UPDATE: Dave has replaced my extension harness with a full fsd kit and threw in a new PMD he had laying around. Changed the rating as he owned up to his mistake but the review and the story stays the same his original mistake and ugly follow up work still happened...
Dave had originally asked me if I had the relocation kit for my PMD. (Yup it's the Detroit...) Their beasts if treated right... so I've got the relocation kit and I'm trying to find other solutions but no it was the pump. 20 years old its gonna fail. Dave puts in the new pump and leaves the pmd on the pump and throws out the extension harness bolts everything back together leaves the fsd cooler on the intake and the STANDYNE Pmd on the fsd cooler. Dave doesnt tell me hes thrown the harness away and that theres a new pmd sitting on the pump he collects his money and sends me on my way. Coming home from penticton 2 weeks ago my PMD fails being on the pump in the hottest part of the motor anyone that knows a 6.5 knows you just dont leave your pmd down there. It fails because its having to work extra hard for a lift pump that had been failing so working hard plus being in heat fried it ok now question if the pmd were on the fsd cooler would it have failed before the pump fully quit? I dunno brand new pmd pretty well fried lift pump by the looks of it so I doubt it. So I changed the lift pump as that was what the problem had appeared to be as it just looked old and the pmd was brand new and no fuel while cranking (even the standyne pmd was brand new in September right before I bought the truck) still no fire checked a million other things coming to one of 3 conclusions PMD, faulty pump, crank sensor (rpm didnt flicker while turning over may not even mean anything in my eyes but I'm no mechanic but makes sense) and then found out that there was a second pmd one still attached to the pump. First Dave blamed the standyne plug being different well if you would have even tried youd find that the standyne pmd is the best pmd on the market and having replacements in mind they built their plug ends to work with any OEM style PMD soooooo. Then he blamed warranty saying that he couldn't move it off the pump cause it would void the warranty. So now you've done a pump on warranty and you've moved the pmd to the fsd cooler voiding the year warranty if the pmd or pump fail again in that time? And as you will see in the picture butchered the fsd cooler because he was unprofessional and didnt replace the extension harness he threw in the garbage, instead he drilled holes in the fsd cooler and left the shrapnel laying all over the engine to put less strain on the stock harness, which in in turn has put strain on the cooler being now held by 1 bolt and is putting a force on the rubber rad hose which is now vibrating against the sharp corner of the fsd cooler. (Future problems) And now the check engine light is on after letting it idle in their parking lot for 5 minutes, my boost gauge has miraculously been disconnected and I'm getting a heavy electrical shock from my door. Oh yes not to mention since I mentioned the crank sensor possibly being a culprit tried to tell me after hooking up his scanner he was getting weird code readings and after chasing sensors discovered it was the ecu? And replaced it with a used one from a wrecker for 150? Ok sure maybe that got fried too I dunno he gave that part back to me maybe I'll get her plugged into my guys scanner see what it says... heyyyyyy check it out I found a brand new one on Amazon for 145.... really dude? I said crank sensor not ecu maybe you should start with that. Just bloody appease me if that didnt work that's a cheap bloody part brand new. Pictures are the butchered fsd cooler and the metal shrapnel he left sitting just waiting to fall in an opening the next time I crack a bolt. Quite unprofessional if you ask me. Never I repeat NEVER throw out an after market part and I've run out of room good day...I SAID GOOD DAY SIR!!!!
