I happened to find Mastertech on Yelp, where they (and Specifically Nate) had GREAT reviews. But there are always two or three places with good reviews right? Well, just based on my initial conversations with other shops vs. Nate's on the phone, I knew I was going to him. Initially we were just looking to get our vehicle checked out before a big trip, knowing our car is almost 10 years old. Well unlike a lot of mechanics, Nate's guys ACTUALLY, REALLY checked it out and came to find out we had a major issue going on that we didn't even realize. A problem that with the strain we were about to put on the car, would have almost definitely left us stranded somewhere and ruined our first big family vacation! Anyway, Nate broke the bad news, and was very honest about it maybe not being worth keeping the car, but that if we wanted to keep our very paid off, very loved Jeep, he would expedite our case and get it done in time for our Road/ RV Trip. The labor was extensive , as they basically had to take the whole engine apart and Nate suggested we utilize the labor costs we were already paying to change out tubes and hoses and what not while we were already in there (Something I know the dealership would have skipped and recharged us labor costs again for later.) Long story short, they broke their backs to get it done in time for us. Nate gave us a great Military Discount, and amazing service. During our trip, one of the parts he'd put in, which he got us at a discounted price, but warned wasn't always compatible with our Make, failed and a light came on in the car. (This was fully disclosed to us but he was trying to save us some money on what was a very expensive job) Anyway, he ended up switching out the part for the other one after we got back FOR FREE. Which was NOT his fault, because he told us it might be an issue. And he replaced it with the new part ...let me repeat for FREE. Literally, just no better place to go, because seriously who does that?!
When you go to Nate's shop, you'll often meet people who have driven over an hour, FOR AN OIL CHANGE, just because... "for Nate," "because it's Nate" or because "Nate is the best." As a female, I appreciate him so much because he doesn't treat me like I'm an idiot, which has been my experience with most mechanics my entire life, despite the fact that I'm actually pretty good with car knowledge. He explains stuff, then explains again if he needs to. He is honest, unbiased and gives you ALL your options, even when the options aren't in HIS best interest. He and his guys really get to know their customers ( and their vehicles) on a personal level and REMEMBER the history on both. Which is crazy because they are super busy, with a lot of customers. Nate always take the time to chat, catch up, and asks how things are going with previous work they've done. And though his phone rings non stop, he is ALWAYS polite and doesn't rush with anyone. I'm bummed we just found him because we won't be around the area much longer...such is the Military life (which Nate knows all too well.) BUT rest assured all our many friends who make their way to the West Coast will be going to him!! Thanks so much Nate and Mastertech crew , you're really the best! Also special shout out to Rick, because he is the nicest guy and talking with him is like talking to a long-time friend!
See you soon, (but hopefully not too soon, lol!)
