John and the guys there are great. We brought in the 1978 Sedan DeVille that has been in the family for 40 years and it runs great! They know the older cars and help keep them running!

I've been taking my car to John for just over 2 years with a few moderate problems and planned-replacements. I've always been treated well and charged fairly. I drive an older "economy" car, but I generally take good care of it. I'm not a mechanic, but I know enough to have worked as a warranty analyst for a few years. I'm pretty convinced John knows his stuff and is an honest guy. I had a brand new steering belt tensioner assembly crack after it was replaced at Lafayette Auto Repair. John took the time to show me the broken assembly, (correctly) explain how the failure occurred, and took care of all the labor and component replacement under new component warranty (no cost to me, other than the inconvenience). I'd seen similar failures in my line of work, and he handled the situation masterfully. Another time, I had convinced myself I had a bad wheel bearing. After trying to confirm this, John talked me out of the expensive replacement until the bearing presented itself more clearly. I'm glad I listened. Now, I can't say Lafayette Auto Repair is a perfectly-run business, but it's been my experience that John and his crew are good mechanics. I've never been less than satisfied.
