I wouldn't recommend Houska, specially if you are a woman with no knowledge on cars. My front brake house broke when I was driving (very stressful because I lost all the pressure of my brakes) and I took my car to fix it there. I asked for a quote for everything I should repair. When I picked up my car I notice the brakes were worst than before and nobody explained me anything. As I didn't trust in them I took my car to another mechanic. First than all, they detected immediately what was wrong with my brakes and also they noticed (and showed me) my rear brake hoses were in a bad condition, and the brake pads as well. Eventually, I could have the same problem for the one I took my car to Houska. The quote I received was for $3,600 and they did not mention anything about the rear brake hoses and for them the pads were "fine", they just fix the "problem". In my opinion they did a poor job. Also, most of the suggested repairs were not needed (and very expensive). I am very disappointing. Additionally, in the other place I was charged 1/3 of what I paid in Houska (120 vs 375) for the exactly same job. I contacted them, Jon was very open to listen, but of course he has to take part for his business (understandable). He noticed I was extra charged for the hoses. The other mechanic charged me $20 for the parts and Houska $107, they gave me back $30 (make your own calculations). Anyway, if you are a woman or if you don't want to through your money, please go to another place.

I took my 68 Ford F100 to Houska to finish up some brake work on a barn find of mine. I was heading out of town and need a few things looked at that I didn't have time for. I spoke with Mike and explained the work that had been done and what I thought needed to be done additionally. I also explained some small details that would need attention due to the old school proportioning valve of drum brakes. That same day he explained his findings and suggestions, and I concurred. 2 days later, Mike gave his praise for the work I had done so far and told me that the additional work had been completed, but they had to get a shop veteran of 30+ years to bleed the brakes so that it was done to my standard and instruction (THANKS JEFF!!). Because I travel for work, I was out of town at the time of completion, I squared up my bill, and told them my wife would be by to pick up the keys and I would pick the truck up that next evening. Here's where Houska separated themselves... Mike was not going to let my truck sit there. He arranged for one of their staff to drive my truck and drop it off at my house, parked perfectly in my garage! Just so that it didn't risk someone stealing something off of it, or stealing the truck itself. Now this too was also a challenge because my truck is an old "3 On The Tree" and most folks deport know the lost art of driving one. Thanks again Mike and Jeff for all your help on a job well done. You guys have earned a customer for life.

My experience started in the fall of 2017. Took my vehicle in for service, and they told me I needed 3 new wheel hubs (one had already been changed). They told me 2 of them were priority, but that the 3rd would need to be changed at my next service. I had the 2 "priority" hubs completed in the Fall. Fast forward to last week when it was time for a service. I had them give me a price for a full synthetic service ($98 for 7 quarts of oil), an A/C inspection and recharge ($109 for inspection only, then they estimated another $150 for recharge if needed), and the hub they told me I'd need. They quoted me $597 for the hub, for the part only before labor. Skeptical, I looked around at parts stores and the dealership, and no one else sells that part for more than $240. When I did bring this to their attention, they offered to get the part from the dealership and they blamed their wholesaler. Somehow the "professionals" didn't know they were overpaying for a part by $350? I decided to check other garages for pricing. No one else quoted me more than $70 for the service, $140 for the A/C (inspection and charging the system). I picked another garage and they then told me they had no idea why the hub replacement was recommended. Their was nothing wrong with the hub. I'll never take another vehicle to Houska's. Be very, very cautious about what you're paying for if you decide to take your vehicle there. In looking back at my invoice from last fall, I'm pretty sure I was gouged for at least $350 more than I should have paid.........shame on me for not having the same diligence then.

My wife was just beginning her trip across country when her SUV lost power. I was traveling as well but called Houska's as I have done business with them before. AAA towed the vehicle to Houska's and although they had told me it would be a few hours before they could look at it, they started right away. It took about 4 hours start to finish and they sent a courtesy vehicle to our house to pick her up (including our pets). Great service, great people and very reasonable cost. Thanks for a great experience and getting her back on the road quickly.

The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. Their hours are perfect especially for someone like me who works 8-5. I will go to them for all my car needs!
