I usually do my own mechanical work but getting older means knees etc. don't work like they used to. A few years ago I decided to use a local tech to do some work. After numerous calls I either didn't get return calls or they didn't show up on the appointment dates. I ended up doing the work myself. This year I again needed some work. I tried a local tech again with the same results as previous year. I tried Monmouth marine. They called back as promised. Then called back at every turn. They were on time, honest, professional and did a fine job. The only time I had to make a call was to ask when I'd get the repair invoice. Top notch outfit!

Monmouth Marine Engines: The Best Boat Engine Repair on The Jersey Shore My family has been using Monmouth Marine Engines of Brielle NJ for over 40 years. They represent the finest of what a business should be. We have 6 children, 3 adopted and 3 biological. They all have grown up enjoying our boat “Dulcinea” named after Don Quixote’s love of his life. Our boat, a 1991 24ft Maxum, has been a love of our life and Monmouth Marine Engines has kept her running beautifully every year. They repowered her in 2011 and provided extensive repairs after hurricane Sandy which carried my boat several blocks inland which smashed the hull in the transom area damaging the outdrive as well. Monmouth Marine brought her back to life for us and maintains her every year. We use our boat extensively and she has traveled up the Hudson to the Troy Federal Lock just above Albany and the entrance to the Erie Canal, out as far as Block Island and down the intercoastal water way as far as Tangier Island in Virginia. I am a university professor by trade but I have had boats my entire life and used to be Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 10 years teaching others about safe boating. My dad, Tom Brown, Sr., was a Royal Naval Engineer and a Commander for the local Coast Guard Auxiliary stationed in Point Pleasant for many years. He is the one who introduced me to Monmouth Marine Engines and used them extensively to maintain our Silverton Cabin Cruiser. He bragged about what good people Monmouth Marine Engines had, and they could fix virtually any kind of marine engine. Indeed, I give them my highest recommendation and continue to recommend them to anyone needing engine work done on their boat. They are managed by Ken who has assembled the finest people who really care about doing an excellent job and going out of their way for you! Best regards, Dr. Jim Brown

I paid $2200 for no work. I had 2 rebuilt engines to install. I was told and in writing would cost $2200. I received a call 2 parts needed to be replaced for additional $1800. I called back the next day and was informed that since I didn't give them the ok the day before to start work, I was now going to have to wait 2 weeks. This happened twice. I went to have a face to face with them and was given a laundry list written on scrap paper of other repairs they thought needed to be done. I told them, not to replace any parts and get the engines started. 1 engine was in the shop 1 still on the boat. I boarded the boat took a look around and left. They called the next day and told me the engine in the shop was bad and started quoting prices to replace it. I told them before quoting me anything, the other engine should be checked. 5 minutes later they called back saying that both were bad. I know little to nothing about engines but I smelled something fishy. I told them I needed to talk to my husband first, got in my car to check things out. I boarded the boat, and all the papers, parts etc... that were sitting on the engine the day before had not been touched. I was told the balance due was $2200. I decided at this point to get my boat towed out by someone else and the bill had to be paid. I paid another marina $2000 both engines started right up and are still running many years later. I am very surprised this bottom feeding company is still around.
