Marine Propulsion Inc

It has taken me some time to decide to write this review.I am very disappointed in the service that I received at Marine Propulsion,Inc.I spent $12,000 with them in 2016 only to have to redo almost everything the mechanic did on my boat and I am sure that his lack of attention to detail caused me to have to replace my brand new Garmin 7612 depth finder/chart plotter. He neglected to use the rubber seals that seal the unit to the dash nor did he place any sealant between the unit and the dash. Therefore, the dash leaked and wet the backside of the unit possibly causing the failure according to Garmin. In 2017,I had a failure in the shifting mechanism on the Yanmar outdrive they had removed the year before to replace the drive and swift cable boots. As I stated previously about the quality of the work performed,I wanted them to check it to see if the shift cable had possibly come lose. The shift cable had not come loose.Their diagnosis was water in the drive and it needed to be replaced. It took (6) weeks to get this report. It was then that I decided that I would pick up the boat and so I called Anthony to get a balance on what I owed them.I was told $250 to $300 and when I got there it had gone up to $575.00.I told them I would pay the $300 and if Anthony had a problem with that he could call me.I sent a deposit to The City Boatyard for a new outdrive based on Marine Propulsions' diagnosis.A week later after the drive had been ordered,I decided to check behind Marine Propulsion and look at the outdrive myself.I found that they had never drained the oil from the outdrive and discovered that there was NO WATER in the outdrive!!!!How could they give a diagnosis without checking out the outdrive?!!!!!This misdiagnosis cost me $9000.00 in 2017.I would be very leary to use these folks based upon my experiences with them.My experience leads me to believe that they may be only "PARTS CHANGERS" as opposed to "TRUE MECHANICS".I hated to have to write this review in the first place.Unfortunately what I thought was a very trustworthy and reliable establishment turned out not to be the case.Let the boat owner beware, check behind them with every step.I will never take anything to them again, nor can I refer anyone to them.
