I had a breakdown on I95 about 90 miles from home and had my Honda Element towed to Mac's Service Center in Ashland on a Sunday night. I'm always a bit uneasy when using an auto mechanic with whom I have no knowledge, but Mac's seemed like the best option. This ended up being a major repair for my car that had 199k miles on it. They diagnosed the problem, gave me a call and explained how their diagnosis matched with the symptoms I had described. I felt good about letting them proceed with the work. They had the repair done very quickly. I picked up the car and was delighted to find they had washed it and it really looked better than it has in a long time (shiny tires and wheels, clean paint, inside cleaned). When I drove it, I was amazed at how well it was running. They saw an opportunity to clean the throttle body while it was out to change the starter, and it really improved the performance. And they didn't charge extra to do this. I feel like I really lucked out when choosing Mac's in Ashland and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I'd certainly return there for future service if I lived close by.

Mac's save me a lot of money, and my car runs better than ever. The dealership wanted over $4,000 to do a bunch of engine work on my 2011 Chevy. So I called and got Mac's team to look at it. Turned out it needed an engine flush to clear the gunk from the engine and a couple of key parts replaced...all for less than a third of the other guy's quote. I like the team, I like their honesty, and I'd recommend them to anyone!

Not recommended for hybrids, lack of courtesy. I'm an ASE certified, experienced mechanic of nearly 20 years looking for a second opinion. We dropped off for a diagnostic of electrical brake system, were quoted $759 for something that was already described in detail as being done by Lexus of Richmond the week before for $125. And that was simply to help "Narrow down the problem". Charged more than that ($149.99) for doing little more than driving and scanning the car. Hung up on me when I suggested paying the current diagnostic and picking it back up. We drove 45 min from Chesterfield to drop off the car and follow through on a referral. Making that drive again after being charged for nothing helpful was irritating enough, having to drive around the block for 20 minutes to find our car parked across the street was even more fun. A little courtesy goes a long way, found none.

I've been doing business with these great people since they opened their doors in Ashland. They know what they are doing and I can trust their advice and their work. Plus...they are just downright hospitable and take great care to go out of their way to make the customer experience the best it can be. I recommend them without reservation!

High quality service. Clean, fast, and efficient. Competitive prices with other quality car repair places. I've been a customer for the past 4-years.
