Our experience started off polite and professional but took a turn for the worse. We were providing updates on the clean-up of a rental house that we acquired from Royal Lepage to one of their property managers as we were told to keep track of any damage we found and the hours and expenses of the cleanup. Two weeks in after 12+ hour days of cleaning we sent an update and received an extremely rude and unprofessional email back telling us we did not rent the “Taj Mahal” and that although the house was in worse shape than Royal Lepage or we anticipated, that we rented it “as-is” and to stop our complaining and just be happy they hauled away the garbage from the last tenants and did a quick paint job inside. I won’t go into more detail about the email we received because I don’t want to reveal the identity of the property manager and slander her reputation personally. Without exaggeration my husband and I have spend over 100 hours cleaning and fixing this house and it is still not livable. We paid almost $3000 in rent and damage deposits in June and we won’t be able to move in until July and we have no reduction in the rent for our work and cost of cleaning. We continue our long days bringing this house up to an acceptable standard because it is the right thing to do and somewhere there are owners of this house and I put myself in their shoes also and try to do right by them. We were also willing to take on the work because the location is close to our work at the OCC and because there are limited rental options in Oliver. We hope to find a place to buy in the near future in Oliver once we learn the area, and without a doubt we certainly will not be using Royal Lepage. We genuinely hope to receive at the very least an apology from Royal Lepage for their employees disrespectful and rude behaviour.
