“We’ve known Greg and Tracy Vistisen personally for many years, and Copper Island Fine Homes by reputation since its inception. That said, we still did a proper search for a contractor when planning a long-overdue, extensive renovation of our beloved but aging lakeside cedar panabode cabin. Greg explained his business approach to this complex task, and after reviewing our options, we selected Copper Island. We are glad we did; the completed project exceeds our expectations and we’re very happy with our expanded, renewed and refreshed ‘lake house’. Greg and his team (thanks, Dean and Heidi!) met with us regularly, kept us updated with progress, helped problem solve the inevitable challenges any renovation presents- (walls, floors and corners that were anything but straight, level or square), and were pleasant and professional. The sub-trade contractors he selected were top-notch. Jeremy led the framing crew and worked miracles with our little old cabin; he also made some very helpful (and diplomatic) suggestions. We were able to keep the best of the old, while enlarging and modernizing the kitchen and adding an entire Master suite and a cozy loft. New raised and vaulted rooflines, windows, interior and exterior finishing, roofing, plumbing and electrical- everything was done just right. Greg’s due diligence regarding the business and financial arrangements was thorough and we never felt pressured or uninformed. All in all, we are completely satisfied customers. Our team was disheartened to read the Marshall-Johns negative review. We take pride in our work and are recognized for our integrity, professionalism and commitment to customer service. Opportunities like this help us improve. Helping others is difficult in the absence of open and honest communication. This was a challenging project due to its short timeline and large scope of work. We adjusted our schedules, transferred crews from other projects, worked some evenings and even weekends to meet the schedule despite an increased scope of work of almost 40%. Our “computerized” project management system helped us meet this challenge. The Marshall-Johns worked well on-site as part of our team in what was considered to be an efficient and positive working relationship and were highly complementary of our efforts during our provided occupancy house warming lunch. An orientation meeting occurred at occupancy and client noted punchlist items were identified. A copy of our warranty service program was provided to and discussed. A complimentary 30 day grace period was allowed should any other items be noticed while settling in. These were to be forwarded to our punchlist coordinator, which never occurred. Only two very minor punchlist items remained outstanding when the negative review was posted: a single door hardware backing plate and a few missed door stops. Final payment was unexpectedly withheld without reason and several telephone and email requests for discussion went unanswered. Possible collection action was noted by both phone message and email approximately one month after final payment request. A negative review then occurred and a letter was received noting 18 outstanding items or issues. With the exception of the two punchlist items, all issues or items were being or had been cared for. Everyone at Copper Island Fine Homes has the highest standards of workmanship. We enjoy what we do. We appreciate maintaining friendships, especially in a small community. We are very proud of the beautiful renovation Rob and Ann now call home. We remain committed to completing the final punchlist items, have attempted to re-open communication and look forward to a candid discussion to determine the real nature of their concerns.

Not the most considerate people work here. There are few people that have building experience and finishing details are not followed up on. They are more concerned about system and computer process than actually talking to the client. I would not recommend these people to build or renovate your home. There is no follow through on deficiencies in fact we are still waiting for things to be completed 4 months after so called completion.

We decided to renovate the entire upper floor of our home and from the first contact we had with Greg at Copper Island Fine Homes, we knew we were in good hands. He was considerate of our budget and ideas, and his knowledge and expertise made our experience go very smoothly. The entire staff at Copper Island were professional, helpful, caring, and friendly. Dee was incredible in taking our vision and turning it into a beautiful design. We were thrilled with her attention to detail, all the while keeping our style in mind. Throughout demolition and construction, Chuck and Heidi kept us apprised of the progress and timelines. Any questions or concerns we had were immediately addressed. With every interaction, their desire to make sure we were happy and getting everything we wanted was evident. We continue to discover and enjoy beautiful details in the work done by Chuck and the Copper Island staff. We highly recommend Copper Island Fine Homes for your home renovations. The team at Copper Island Fine Homes recently built us a beautiful home in the Blind Bay area. Every phase of the project remained on schedule, the work high quality and the finished product truly exceeded our expectations. Thanks to all of their hard work and attention to every detail. Our final inspection was indeed a pleasure with few problems and many generous and thoughtful surprises. Thanks Kyla for all your design input and excellent shopping skills, it was a pleasure working with you! Special thanks to you Greg for your invaluable assistance in organizing all the extra work required for construction on a rural lot. We are happy to recommend this company to others.
