TOPIC:1953 CHEVY 2 TON GRAIN TRUCK CONVERSION TO 18FT ROLL BACK TILT DECK We drove(reg and insured) our vintage 1953 chevy 2 ton truck to "TAIL LIGHTS"to get them to: Estimate on how much to get a roll back tilt deck installed(18 ft) Estimate rear brake cylinder rebuild/repair NOT total rebuild Estimate an easy tune up once deck is hooked up(brand new 1 barrel carb and fuel pump) ran perfect when driven to their shop! ...it sat in their yard from Feb 4/2014 till March 3/2014 ...they used a full can of either to start it they said! ...they called and asked how to start it (totally missed the gigantic foot stomp starter on floor)March 3/2014 ...they took entire rear brake system apart no reassembly without clearance from owner to do so! ...came up with MAGICAL bill for 993.00 just for parts! problem was 1 wheel cylinder needs rebuild (rest of brake system already rebuilt less than a yr ago all NEW !!! they wanted to take rear end completely apart rebuild all new parts including axles all over again! (far from just an estimate) WHEEL CYLINDERS ARE 50.00 EACH! We told them no, that's far from right as we found entire rear brake twinplex dual kit both sides for under 400.00 for a total rebuild including new brake pads before ever taking it to them! total bill just for brakes was 1850.00 for them to do it... we politely said no, that's way over priced! they left the parts off the truck on purpose to pretty much hold us over the barrel to make sure that they would have us on the hook to do the job or to make sure it must be towed away if they didnt do the work! THEY DEMANDED TRUCK BE TOWED AWAY IMMEDIATELY THREATENING TO TOW TO CITY IMPOUND! no estimate for deck install no estimate for carb tune up (1 barrel carb) charged 3 hrs to take off dual tires and pull bad brake cylinder on 1 side! bill was charged in other than registered owners name! how can you bill someone other than the registered owner of the vehicle? paid out 360.52 for rear brake estimate paid 300.00 to have it towed back home TOTAL=660.52 NO WORK DONE JUST LARGE RUN AROUND! we will be taking this complaint to dispute resolution thru the BBB as even they have told us that this bill is 2-3x the current rate at any other buisiness!
