We bought a kitchen from William Dyck. At first, service seemed to be good, we changed the plans quite a few times before placing the order to make sure we got the layout we wanted. Then the problems started, they came out to measure the kitchen & by they, I mean the sales woman, not the installer (which would be the correct person to do it since they have the kitchen experience) & she informed us that she wanted to shrink a cabinet in case it didn't fit during installation. There would be no reason why it shouldn't fit if the kitchen was measured properly plus we had a few inches to play with but we went with what she wanted because she advised if we didn't & there were any problems that we would be paying to fix them. Next the kitchen came after 6 weeks & a pantry cabinet was sent damaged from the factory so it needed to be reordered. The installers put a huge gouge in another cabinet during installation & didn't even bother to inform us. They also had no clue how to install the crown moulding in the cabinets. Just said it wouldn't fit, sorry. Even though there was plenty of room for it. The handles were put on crooked as well. W.M Dyck reordered the damaged cabinet from the factory & said it would take 3 weeks. On the day the new cabinet was supposed to come, they called says by that it was done incorrectly again & needed to be remade a 3rd time. So we waited another full 4 weeks (7 weeks after original install & we finally got the cabinet). Cabinet still had a bit of damage but we accepted it because we didn't want to wait any longer.
Another issue was the countertop/farmhouse sink. We were originally told that the installers would put it in place so when they didn't, I asked about it again & was informed that the countertop people would do it. Countertop people came to template & said, no it should have been in already by the cabinet installers. Countertops were templates anyway without it & W.M Dyck didn't inform us until a week later that we were going to need another countertop template. In the meantime we installed the sink ourselves since W.M Dyck couldn't figure out whose responsibility it was. Template was fine again & we were told counters would still be installed at the 2 week mark (which we already had an appt booked for). The day of the countertop appt, no one showed up so I called & they informed me that they had changed the appt to the following week but W.MDyck didn't bother to inform of of this. Counters came & they are crooked. At this point, seems like countertop place is saying it's the cabinet installers fault & W.MDyck is saying it's out of our control. As far as we're concerned, cabinet makers, installers & countertop makers & installers are all the responsibility of W.MDyck since they sub contracted them & we are paying W.M Dyck for everything. They need to make it right. There are also esthetic issues with the kitchen, huge space above the fridge, huge space above the wall ovens, empty space on sides of sink. These things make the kitchen look cheap & it shouldn't considering what we paid for it. Overall, Urban Effects cabinetry is not a great product & W.M Dyck kitchen department needs much better installers as well customer service. The only thing we've been offered is $100 gift card from them which is nothing considering what we've paid for the kitchen & all the issues we've had. We understand the issues come up, we've done reno before but it's the way these issues are dealt with that make all the difference & W.MDyck is not dealing with these issues.
