There is no xerox star option. Was a gas customer of these guys. They wanted a $200 deposit. We wanted to not pay this. They offered that we could sign up for direct withdrawal from the bank if we wanted to avoid this. We agreed. They mailed out forms for bank withdrawal. We paid our entire balance minus the $200 deposit. We told them we are going on vacation, figuring the mail would take a few days to arrive, and we would leave possibly before the mail got here, plus we would be away for 2 weeks. Outside of the deposit, our balance was then $0.00. They said no worries, fill out the form and return when you get back from vacation. Came back and then they turned off our gas the very next day. Called them, shocked and said we did exactly what they instructed us to do. They turned gas back on and charged us $321 for doing so. We've been fighting this charge for 4 months now. Spoken to at least 6 people, the first 5 of whom didn't even have the authority to remove the charge. They have failed to return calls, they resist efforts to escalate to higher ranking staff. Really bad service, honestly it seems like it matters not what you have to say. It seems they just want to exhaust you until you pay. I have spent hours upon hours dealing with this, yet nothing changes. Switched companies today thankfully, but I'm sure this mess isn't finished yet. Funny thing was, even the guy who reconnected the gas told us that Direct Energy is the worst. He said switch to someone else, you won't regret it.

My elderly parents had a hot water tank installed incorrectly by Direct Energy (confirmed with Manufacture) years ago, this has caused damage to her hot water tank. They have billed her over $700 for labour and it is still not working nor have they provided a refund for this . It has now been over a month that she has not had any hot water and they are now telling her she needs another new part and that this could cost her more money she does not have (fixed income) . Instead of doing what is right and replacing this for her (at no cost) they are giving her the runaround and making her wait even longer for hot water to be up and running. By the time this is said and done it is likely the cost of repair will be as much as a new hot water tank - that Direct Energy's error in installation ruined in the first place.

Cancelled my electricity with this provider for the reason that they charged more than Enmax. Imagine 26 dollars for a 10 kwh difference. What a rip off!!!

Direct Energy has absolutely terrible customer service and their billing department is incompetent. Run...run very fast in the opposite direction if anyone from Direct tries to sell you their services.

It might help if the people in your call centre spoke english. What should have taken 5 mins took half an hour
