She spent the first hour going through a paper detailing professional guidelines. It took us 5 minutes to read it but she insisted on going through it so that she could charge us $140 for nothing. She is also not a psychologist and does not seem to have taken additional schooling beyond an undergrad. She had bad things to say about professional psychologists without providing any justification - we were wondering if the session was for her or for us. Also, my boyfriend and I have strong senses of self awareness and we really get ourselves. She acted like everything we said in the meeting was so profound and as though she was the one drawing this information out of us. We've had these conversations before and nothing new came out of it other than her praise for herself. She is awkward and not a people person so I think it's difficult for her to both read and connect with clients. She decided to talk about our issues during the last 10 minutes of the session and cut me off at the 5 minute mark to say there was only 5 minutes left and that she would like that time to wrap things up. My boyfriend and I were angrier and more upset by the end of the session than we were when we went in. I think most people are not inclined to leave reviews because they don't want others to know that they have sought counselling and so her rating has remained fairly high. However, I want to save people from the unprofessional experience we had and also have people save their money. Also, please note that the majority of her positive reviews are coming from people who have not actually used her counselling services. They are her peers and friends, which is why they are leaving glowing reviews. I don’t think they should count because they haven’t actually used her services - or in her case, disservice. Please read reviews from people who actually tried to get help from her. Those are legit.

Avoid Avoid Avoid. I don't know what it was, but Lisa had a severe nervous breakdown when I met her and was acting irrational and very emotional for a good 15 minutes. I didn't know what was going on, but her reaction and anger is not something that you look for from a mental health specialist. When reading the other reviews I was surprised to read that I was the only one with this poor experience, until I realized that the other reviews are from colleagues and friends. I came in seeking help, and what I got in return was anger, finger waving, attitude, and a severe nervous breakdown. Shocking behavior, all of that from the first hello. I have never encountered this before. I hope that Lisa gets the help she needs to control her anger issues and control her emotions. I suspect that some therapists need therapy themselves, and I think it's the case. So if any therapist is reading this, please reach out to her. If any person is looking for help, stay away, save your money, go elsewhere. That's what I did. I'm still shocked by Lisa's behavior. At first I thought it was rude and unprofessional, but I think there may be a bigger underlying issue. I wish Lisa the best, but at this moment, I don't think it's the right thing to do when taking on new patients, not with a lack of control of her emotions, and completely irrational behavior. Wish you all the best.

Lisa is a colleague who I have known personally for over 30 years. She is a compassionate therapist who is dedicated to her work. I have no hesitation in referring couples or individuals to her, knowing that they will be in good hands.
