After much research, I chose Blakes for a mid-winter move from New Westminster to Kaslo BC (a small village about an hour north of Nelson), knowing they could drive the Crowsnest highway without hassle. They had better reviews than the cheaper long-distance movers, and were more reasonably priced than the lower mainland companies, whose winter driving I wasn't sure about. Shelly was professional and extremely prompt in organizing the move with me. She answered all my questions, and provided a weight-estimation checklist. The movers were excellent! They arrived a half-hour early, and loaded our condo and our storage locker in approximately 2 hours. They were courteous, friendly, strong, and FAST! They were on the road by 10 am, and we were on our way by noon. Originally we had thought they wouldn't be able to delivered our furniture until 2 days after, but they surprised us by being able to do so the next day. We stayed overnight in Osoyoos, and I believe they made it to Grand Forks. The following day, they made it to our new home about an hour before we did, and immediately gave me a call when they found our driveway icy and covered in snow. We soon had it resolved, and I appreciated the prompt notice. They even started calling plowing companies for me! Once the truck was down the driveway, they had it unloaded in even less time than loading took. They were careful with the floors and our possessions. And we got to sleep in our bed instead of on the floor for our first night in our new home. We're completely unpacked now, and nothing was lost or damaged. I would hire Blakes again in an instant, and recommend them to anyone.
