Team managers are great people but have their hands tied. The league (as a whole) haven't figured out how to properly communicate with its clientele and refuses to work with the GM's. I've been treated and felt more like I should be appreciative for paying to be in the league. Hopefully things change because the competition and structure isn't half bad but after 7 years in this league, I doubt it.

Do not fall for the 'premium ice' ponzi scheme. That ice doesn't exist, and you WILL play in the darkest hours of the night. I've played in three other adult leagues in Calgary, and I can say for the invoice price you certainly have some better options out there....Happy skating!

Late games, no communication. Divisions they have “set up as fair” are a mess. Play in Div.6(learned to skate backwards 2 years ago) and play against guys who played for Edge in 2011 and Alberta Cup. Oh and is ranked 30th in Mens Speed Skating. Maybe he should play up? Maybe we should play down? Absolutely no movement on divs. Don’t recommend for beginners.

We paid extra for the best ice time and get nothing better than 10:15pm and we still have to play tuesday and sunday late night games. Also, our team won our division the previous season and this year had to forfiet a thanksgiving weekend game so the NCHL droped us to a lower division without any communication. They also do not return calls... Personally, I would like a refund and I know my teammates would too... but that wont happen. Maybe now someone will contact me from the NCHL.

Tyler and Jeff below me describe this league perfectly!! Total favortism among the management of the league and league teams, friends of management. The refs are brutal and chirp, and swear at players then toss them from games for complaining. No one does anything about it when you complain to league execs. Their new policy of calling gross misc for homophobic slurs apparently comes with different rules for different players depending on who you know. The ice times are brutal even if you pay the extra. Do your team a favor and look at other leagues, you'll be happier paying $10,000 to a better league for winter rec hockey. Was decent to begin with a few years ago but has gone downhill big time.
