Subject: Unpleasant Experience at Richmond Center Sports Check Branch Dear Sports Check Management, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your Richmond Center branch, which has prompted me to share my experience through this Google review. I purchased a snow pole from your Vancouver branch, and due to size issues, I called to inquire about the return process, specifically asking if I could return it to the Richmond Center branch. The Vancouver store assured me that, as per company policy, I could return the unused product to any location. However, my experience at the Richmond Center branch was far from satisfactory. Upon calling the Richmond branch, the staff member seemed unhelpful and repeatedly mentioned that they don't handle sports equipment. When I mentioned the company's policy as stated by the Vancouver branch, she initially insisted on asking her manager. After a considerable delay, she informed me that without a tag, no return could be processed. This contradictory information and lack of assistance were frustrating. My disappointment extends beyond my personal experience, as I've noticed similar sentiments in other customer reviews. Many highlight a negative attitude, unhelpfulness, and a lack of willingness to assist customers at the Richmond Center location. I believe that for a company to thrive, consistent and customer-friendly policies should be upheld across all branches. It is disheartening to witness such discrepancies in customer service and adherence to company policies. I encourage you to address these issues promptly and seriously in your management to prevent any further decline in customer satisfaction and potential business repercussions. I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope for positive changes in the Richmond Center Sports Check branch's customer service approach.

Easily the worst sportchek i’ve ever been to. Upper management really needs to look into this store. Employees and managers are extremely rude and snarky, openly talk poorly about customers in front of them. They don’t even understand their own policies, blatantly lie and spew misinformation to get you out of the door. Come here if you want to be treated like livestock rather than a paying customer.

This is an Atmosphere based Sport Check, so it has a lot of outdoor equipment as well as the usual Sport Check offerings. The layout is huge with clothing in the center, shoes and athletic equipment on the outside walls. Staff are pretty knowledgeable about general sports and there were usual a few product experts around. The store also has a service center for bike, board, ski and equipment repair. Seasonally the service shop can get busy. Parking is accessible through the mall, they are near the Canada line and bus stops.

If it was called Sport Check lite or mini, I think the overall experience would be positive. However since they don't sell sports equipment it's very misleading and vastly different from their previous location in Richmond Centre.

Racial Discrimination - I wish I could give 0 rating or even Negative rating. I noticed other reviews where people are complaining about RUDE/UNPROFESSIONAL behavior by Store Manager. I am pretty sure it would be Albert. But my question is what is SportChek management doing about customers complaining about RUDE Store Managers. The worst customer experience at this store. I usually purchase a lot of items online but always check the return policy before buying. In this case I went to this store to return couple items due to sizing issues. I was told the manager has to approve the return even though the items were purchased couple days ago. The store “manager Albert” was the most disrespectful and rude person you can think of. He quoted “protocol “ which has never been enforced before and the manner which he was talking was so demeaning. I requested him to make an exception for me as I have difficulty walking and his response was “exceptions are treated as Red flags at that store “. What kind of store does that? I am not sure how this kind of rude unprofessional behavior is shown by a Manager. I hardly go to this store due to some previous experience at the same store but unfortunately this is the closest step to my home. The store manager had no manners, showed zero respect towards a disable person. I would NEVER visit this store and would ask everyone to shop from stores where the managers and staff have courteous behavior and respect towards the customers. The manager’s behavior was a classic example of discrimination against Asian customers. It looks like Sport chek management is completely ignoring the customer feedback as the same manager who is expert in racial discrimination still manages the store. Anyone needing a case study on rude manager and employees can visit this store.
