Warning: City wants to pave over Hammond Stadium fields

https://www.mapleridgenews.com/local-news/maple-ridge-council-gets-petition-against-hammond-rec-facilities-build-7479830 Only 11 years ago in 2013 the city of Maple Ridge (tax payer dollars!) put up $750,000 for major upgrading to the ball fields at Hammond. Now, August 2024, the current city leadership is determined to proceed with bureaucrat/consultant reviews/recommendations to tear up Hammond fields to place an ice arena and parking lot. Yet, over 95% of the local population (by way of 600 signatures on a petition, as a starter) are opposed to such a plan. This is local political/bureaucratic leadership running rough-shot over the taxpayer demands. The current mayor driving this backward agenda is Dan Ruimy. Everyone ought to call into city hall to remind Dan whom he works for... the taxpayer. He is beholden to the taxpayer and local community. Do as you are expected Dan, or step aside.

This park is in my backyard, I know how well its maintained and cared for. Busy all summer and also a soccer field in winter. They added lights last summer and the ballgames are a blast
