I went into the shop ready to buy a brand new 1400$ bike at MSRP. Just needed to get the stem and handlebars swapped for quality-equivalent parts in order to get a better fit (longer stem, flatter bars). The owner started talking about how much extra these parts would be, as he doesn't swap parts on new bikes in order to keep his parts inventory low. Pretty much the same kind of deal you would get buying a bike at Costco: buy it at MSRP as is. Mark up for bikes in this price range is around 35%, yet this bike shop isn't willing to swap quality-equivalent parts to fit the bike to the customer. Lost an easy sale.

I brought my moms wheelchair tires in cause they had a slow leak. The tubes had been changed before for the same problem. At Mach 1 they figured the slow leaks were caused from the plastic in the rim rubbing on the tube. They filed them down before putting new tubes in. They always seem to go the extra mile!
