Great staff. Always fun to pet the shop dog. Rent here before going up to the mountain. Good gear, and best rental prices in town. (Probably... They're so good I haven't ever needed to look elsewhere) always get my board waxed here as well. They're super quick with it.

Had a mix up with the rental and they were able to remedy everything. Excellent prices and friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Good prices and pretty fast service before heading up the hill to snowbowl. I suggest getting equipment the night before. Prices are the best. You get quality equipment, but customer service is lacking the frivolity you might be seeking when heading skiing.

If I could give this place negative reviews, I would. We went there this morning and I only needed two sets of skis for my kids. My husband, dad and I own sets but haven't purchased for the kids yet. When we first walked in, there was a group of young adults, maybe 5 or 6 of them. There was only one man working and he was flustered and very clearly irritated. Several more families came in behind us. He started yelling, "if you're standing then you're in my way" to anyone who wasn't seated. He actually pushed (lightly, but still) my husband out of his way. He was completely rude to the group of younger kids who I referenced before. One of them wanted a board waxed and bindings put on and this worker yelled at him, "I don't have time for that". There was no order to anything, at one point he stood in one of the back rooms and started just calling out all the sizes of kids boots they had available. And hey, I get it. He seemed to be the only one working and maybe he was having an off day, it happens to the best of us! But with multiple other options for rentals in Flag, we strongly recommend skipping this one.

I am extremely pleased with my experience at First Chair. The staff, Adam and Bella, were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Coming from out of town, I only rented from Ski Haus before, which also has great staff. The reason I went to First Chair this time was because they offered the best price for mounting ski bindings. I brought two skis to the shop: a used one with bindings on that I thought might need some adjustment, and one new that needed bindings mounted. When Adam looked at the used one, he told me immediately that the ski was in a good shape and he did not believe any adjustment was needed, or at least he wouldn't charge me anything for working on it. I rented gears for me and my son and left the new ski and bindings with him. When I went back two days later to pick up the ski, Adam showed me the finished equipment and said the mounting did not require much work as he had previously thought. He put the bindings on and waxed the skis. And there would be no charge. For someone who knows nothing about skis and mounting, Adam can easily make me believe both skis needed a lot of work, and $50 was a reasonable expense for the services. What he did was truly honorable and it shows both he and First Char are running a trustworthy and honesty business. As I said, I only rented from Ski Haus before, and now First Chair. There is not much price difference among shops in town, and they are in general about 10 to 15 dollars cheaper than the same rental at the Snowbowl. Between Ski Haus and First Chair, I personally feel First Chair's gear is newer, cleaner and in better shape. Another reason that may make you consider renting from First Chair is their late hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Most of the other stores close at 6pm. But First chair is open till 9 on these two days, as I found out this time. And for those who have been at the slope on Fridays and particular Saturdays, you know how long the car line can be coming back to Flagstaff. On crazy days, it might well take two hours to get back to the parking lot at the heel. The late closing hour at First Chair will definitely make you more relax and not worry about being charged for extra day rental if you can't make it back in town in time. Anyway great experience at First Chair, and will definitely rent from it again and recommend to friends.
