Rented some snowshoes on March 3rd, for my wife and I, for a trek in the Slocan Valley the next morning. The two experienced technical guys were too busy chatting like they would, if they were at a coffee shop or bar, so they passed on helping us to a young retail sales guy. Mentioned to the young fellow that I would be weighing in at about 250 lbs with my gear and didn't believe that the snowshoes he presented us would work for me. He said they'd be fine and as it was closing time, I took the rentals and we left to grab a bite before turning in early. Next morning my assumptions were right, I got the workout of a lifetime, with one pole, as the other was broken! When we returned the gear, at opening on the 5th, I mentioned it to the sales guy that seemed to be the only one there. He seemed nice enough, but didn't really offer much other than the typical 'sorry'. I figured $30 some-odd Bucks kind of wasted and we had to shorten our trek to about a quarter of the route. It's one thing to be an outdoor enthusiast, but it takes more than that to run a shop that caters to the lifestyle. Another case of absentee ownership would be my best guess. Won't be back, and I'll make sure that I never leave my own gear buried under 10 feet of snow, in the Slocan, ever again!

Good solid option for both rental and retail with lots of the backcountry gear and even info you need. Knowledgeable staff. We rented some gear for my son and it worked great. Reserved ahead. Little problem with boot fit but that happens with rental gear I guess.

Great selection of outdoor gear and a staff that is friendly and knowledgeable especially Tom the ski tech who will spare his time to answer most question you can throw at him about Dynafit bindings.

Super happy with ski tech Tom. Helped immensely with boot fit. Managed a busy influx of customers all the while. Courteous and professional.

This store has lots of great gear, my only concern is the price, I know you get what you pay for, but it's a bit out of my range. Having said that they do carry all the good stuff, arcteryx clothing, camping gear, kayaks and skis etc....
