When we enter into marriage or a long term relationship we all hope it will last forever. Unfortunately many of us will not see our " forever " dream. Some of us have prepared for the divorce event with pre-nups and marital contracts, still there is nothing that can prepare us for the emotional, financial, and physical toll that divorce causes. It is a very much like a "death experience" only your loved one is still here. When it happened to me I went into a state of shock and disbelieve and not thinking clearly I did not know where to begin. I was so relieved when a girlfriend suggested that I consider doing my divorce the collaborative way. She suggested that I contact Beryl McNeill, one of the first lawyers to practise collaborative law. When I met with Beryl she was vey patient with me and explained thoroughly the collaborative structure. She was warm, comforting, compassionate, and gave me valuable advise. She guided me through the process, helped me sort out my affairs, supported me emotionally. I don't know how I would have gotten through this with anyone else. She connected me to a number of professionals that I needed, and got me through to the end. Thank you Beryl for all of your kindness, compassion and support. I was not very satisfied with services rendered. I disagree with some of the approach used and the cost incurred in achieving very little results in return. I had to basically terminate the retainer since they charged my credit card without my permission which was contrary to our mutual understanding. I personally think there is better value elsewhere and wish McNeill family law good luck in their corporate endeavors. This is posted with good intention so customers can make informed decisions in finding good legal representation. Regards, Gabriel
