I mean, who gives a positive review to a divorce lawyer? Answer: me. My spouse and I agreed, after a tough, stressful go of it, to go separate ways. I engaged a series of lawyers. Each one, in turn, gave me heartburn and did things to make my situation worse and escalate tension, and only serve to make my pockets lighter and my heart heavier. It was like they cared more about escalating an unnecessary war between my ex and I than actually giving me good advice and helping me get closure. Enter Melanie. Efficient, authentic, clear, smart and prophetic - she helped me understand my position, clarify the potential pitfalls and rights, advise me on direction and pull together a clear, reasonable and mutually agreeable contract quickly and efficiently. To this day, my ex and I have not had a single contractual issue - in fact, we border on friends. We have clear and understandable boundaries (thanks to Melanie), and a clear understanding of our rights and obligations. I've repeatedly broken the classic rule of: "never recommend a lawyer to your friend" a few times now. When a friend mentions that their experience with their current divorce lawyer is terrible - and I introduce Melanie as the better, more reasonable option.

I highly recommend Ms. Melanie O'Neill as a divorce lawyer. She helped me for a very challenging divorce. I can't image what will happen to me and my boy if I don't have her help during that one year divorcing progress. She help me won a trial and saved me almost $4000. She is very patient and understanding, and will try her best to find best balance between cost and result. Again, I highly recommend her as a divorce lawyer!!!

I contacted Ms. O'Neill last year (2018) to have her represent me through separation and divorce proceedings. During our initial consultation Ms. O'Neill was not able to provide me with any strategy on how to navigate through my case. I thought that was typical and after an initial retainer she was able to go through the required paperwork to appear in court since my ex-spouse and I are far apart in terms of negotiating spousal and child support. I continued to ask for guidance and what to expect in every unexpected turn the opposing counsel took us. She was NOT able to provide me with any insight on what to expect and how to expedite some of the negotiations of my separation proceedings. She engaged in petty and not forward moving negotiations with opposing counsel, even after my request to stop negotiating over email. There was not a single point that I felt nothing more than a retainer by Ms. O'Neill. Her lack of knowledge about my proceedings and her approach to my case felt very impersonal and rushed. She proceeded to 'burn' through $4,000 with nothing to show for. Not even a single court appearance. When I questioned her approach to the proceedings she immediately dropped me as a client. I definitely would NOT recommend Ms. O'Neil to represent anyone in separation or divorce proceedings. Very unprofessional and lacks any sensitivity in these matters.
