I tried yoga a few years ago and was not impressed at all. I found that it hurt and I could not do it. Thank goodness it was only a 6 week program. When I would hear people talk about yoga and how much they loved and enjoyed it, I wondered why I had such a terrible experience with it. Fast forward 5 years and I met Annemarie and was so impressed talking with her. I could not get over how calming she was. I shared my experience of yoga with Annemarie and we talked about it. She told me that yoga should never hurt! I decided to give it another try and signed up for a class with Annemarie. I was impressed when Annemarie shared with the class the benefits of yoga and that there was an instructor for everyone, so if she was not your cup of tea, find the instructor who was. During that class I was also impressed with the attention that Annemarie paid to everyone and if she sees you having difficulty, Annemarie provides the props you require so that you can do the pose correctly. Wow, I can do this, with a little help but I can do it! Annemarie made me feel comfortable with my body. She tells us that everyone is different and some will be able to do this pose because their body is built that way and sometimes you need to have props to help you do it. Where was Annemarie when I was growing up and feeling terribly inadequate with my body? I have never paid so much attention to my breathing, I can make myself relax using the techniques I have learned. Over the next few weeks I would surprise myself with the progress I was making. I signed up for the summer session and fall session. I now understand why everyone loves yoga!
