I first started attending Pilates by Bernadette last summer with no prior experience in pilates. Bernadette's studio is warm, bright, and inclusive, a studio for individuals of all experience levels. Bernadette is also very enthusiastic, full of energy, and most importantly ... fun. The two instructors I have also had to opportunity to work out with are just as welcoming and warm as Bernadette. The classes combine working out, with having fun, and I have made many friends over the past few months there, which makes working out double as a social event ! My aunt and cousin also attend classes here, and I am slowly getting more friends and family to come work out and have fun here as well :) I recently started an apprenticeship at Pilates by Bernadette. Bernadette had approach me after a few classes and asked me if I would be interested in becoming an instructor, as she saw potential in me to dive into this new career. Ever since I said yes, she has given me countless support, always open to offering advice and helping me be a better version of myself. I really enjoy this studio and if would give it a rating above 5 ! If you're looking for a great workout, at a small, welcoming, and inclusive studio, I definitely recommend Pilates by Bernadette. And if the working out isn't enough to tone and strengthen your core, the continuous laughter and fun will have you leaving your session wanting more. Keep up the great work Bernadette ! I've heard nothing but great things from other clients, and I can see why you continue to win Best Pilates Studio in the Durham Region consecutively ! With Love, Marc Salvador.

***Update, April 1, 2019*** I have since deleted the majority of my original post from March 23,2019 and changed my rating. I will however, say that I had some difficulties due to a fairly serious health condition I have and it caused some challenges with the studio as I had to put my lessons on hold (with proof of a Dr's. note). Due to the nature of my correspondence with Bernadette, and the time frame I had to make up my classes (it was difficult timing wise) I decided not to return. I didn't ask for a refund at that time nor did I ask for special treatment. I am well aware of cancellation policies and no refund polices. I guess everyone did the best they could under the circumstances. Bernadette did eventually contact me a month after my last email to her, and refunded my balance. I find that honourable and good business practice. I do sincerely wish Bernadette and everyone at the studio, all the best. This may have not worked out for me due to my challenges, but I do know there are many satisfied customers, and Bernadette and the instructors are knowledgeable. " If you want to do private lessons in a cute/clean studio down by the lake/beach, this is the place for you. It is beautiful. If you want someone that is calm and attentive, Jayna is the instructor for you. If you prefer someone who is very high energy, then Bernadette is for you. If you have health issues and suspect you may need to cancel/put your membership on hold, and then make up classes, discuss this with the studio first. Check the policies of any studio before you sign anything."

Pilates by Bernadette is the best Pilates studio in Scarborough and Durham. She always provides excellent classes and even modifies it for clients that require gentle movements (that’s me) .. I always appreciate it when Bernadette is able to accommodate my requests for make up as I tend to travel a lot. Not too many studios would do this. Bernadette, as a person, is a truly wonderful person. Jayna and Jole are great instructors as well. They are quite knowledgeable and supportive in their classes. If I there were more stars, Pilates by Bernadette would deserve so much more.

I started with Pilates by Bernadette last fall, and have been enjoying my experience at this great studio twice a week since! I love the environment, ambiance and location this studio offers. The instructors are all amazing, knowledgeable and fun! Sometimes, I’m forgetting I’m working out at all! The studio owner, Bernadette, has an energetic and upbeat style...all you can ask for in an instructor, in my opinion. She keeps the hour you are there exciting and fun...as if you’re not working out at all! The same goes for the other instructors, Jayna and Jole as well. They’re all quite knowledgeable, and as many have said here, they help personalize your experience using the principles of Pilates with modifications suited for your very needs! I like how the small-group classes make it feel like as if I’ve got my own personal trainer! There have been some movements on the Reformer that I thought I could never do! But their encouraging and motivating nature have allowed me the confidence to move my body with the equipment in ways I never could’ve imagined! With every instructor, you DEFINITELY feel the effects the very next day! If it’s not the workout on the barre, mat, trampoline, TRX or Reformer that makes your muscles and core hurt...it’s from all the laughter you experience with the group/instructors! It’s just that type of environment! If you’re looking for a cute and positive space...a space that makes you move and work out in ways that make you feel as if you’re not even working out...then Pilates by Bernadette is the perfect place for you!

I loved this place! I signed up for 6 private sessions while I was on Christmas vacation. Most of my sessions were with Bernadette and she is fun, high energy and really shows you how to do the pilates moves correctly. The studio itself has two floors and is extremely clean.
