BEWARE AT ALL COST: Tyrannical Yoga I am an active person who has done my fair share of yoga and decided to try Bikram for the first time. What a highly disturbing experience it was. First and foremost is the smell: awful. I went to the counter and told them it was my first time at this particular studio. They made me sign a waiver and told me to set up at the back of the room. No orientation, nothing - but i didn't make a fuss about it. The class started in an extremely militant fashion - the instructor screamed the names of the new people (including mine) to see if we were present. It sounded oddly strict, but i brushed it off as I didn't think this militant mentality would get disturbingly worse. Boy was I wrong. About 20 minutes into the class, I started feeling extremely dizzy and knew I was about to faint. Not to make a scene, I quietly stopped doing the stretches and took big breathes and started drinking water hoping it would go away. Despite this, I still felt that I was very close to fainting and decided it was best to leave the room. I was about 10 people away from the door and very carefully started to head for the door (I'm even surprised I made it that far without fainting - that is how seriously dizzy I felt). But before being able to open the door I heard the instructor aggressively SCREAM "where are you going!? You need to stay in the room!! Stay in the room!!", so I turned around looking very distressed and told her "I am going to faint". She then screamed back at me "If you leave well, don't come back!!". I still got out immediately and I sat down. The lady at the reception asked me if I was ok. After feeling better, I proceeded to tell her what had happened and that I felt extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed to go back into the room after the instructor had clearly and so aggressively screamed at me "don't come back!". I asked the lady if it was possible for her to get my mat and towel back. Shockingly the lady at the counter seemed terrified to go in the room - as if she was scared of the instructor too. So I told her I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, and she told me she would go in when she felt it was the right time to go in and grab my stuff (looking back, I should have just went myself - how ridiculous at this point!). But the most disturbing part was to come: the instructor, while still teaching the class, grabbed my stuff and THREW it outside the room into the reception. I could not believe my eyes. She THREW my things out of the room. How cruel. Even the lady at the reception seemed shocked and kept apologizing. She even offered me to be reimbursed. I have never been to a place so disturbingly militant, rude, and cruel. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

I have been doing yoga for about 3 years at Enso and wanted to try something different. My two friends and I were excited to try the community class at Bikram and we were extremely disappointed. The class itself was ok. Our teacher initially came across as slightly strict and militant as she forced all the less-experienced students to go in back of the class and the experienced to go in front. She also told the students not to drink water until instructed. This said, be sure to properly hydrate before the class unless you want to be humiliated for taking a sip without prior approval. The moment that ruined the class for me was when I was interrupted twice by the woman at the front desk, mid-class, who insisted I place a towel on my mat. She became such a distraction that I eventually had to leave the class and explain to her that I prefer not to use a towel until I feel the need to, as my mat is moisture absorbent. In the past, the instances when I have slipped were due to a towel being on my mat and over time, I have developed a preference of no towel. I do not feel that it is appropriate for a staff member to interrupt a class and address a student. If a towel was absolutely mandatory, this should have been made more clear at the beginning of the class. The teacher could have whispered to me "please use your towel" or motioned to my towel, but she did not. Also, during registration, when I told them that my last time at Bikram was over 4 years ago, they said that there was no need for me to sign the waiver as I most likely already signed it in the past. Perhaps if I was reminded of the "mandatory towel on your mat rule" that is allegedly listed on the waiver that I signed over 4 years ago, I would have been more receptive. I can safely say that my friends and I will not be going back to this studio again.

love the teacher. The room is hot, just how I like it and it's not too crowded. Clean and comfortable setting.
