I stayed here 10+ years ago when there was tiny mobile homes..it was very beautiful and the little store down over the hill was very quaint and very nice people...can a person still rent monthly for a tiny home??

We (3 Girls) had a nice, quiet stay at Birch Island. Sure the place still needs a little maintenance, but the owners are extremely nice and helpful. Once everything will be finished it's going to be a beautiful campground. The washrooms are mostly clean and the shower is free. There is also a laundry machine available and FREE WiFi, which is great. Each site is very private because of the trees and bushes on the sides. A small store down the road can sell you almost everything you'll need.

Utter dive. Campgrounds are terribly maintained. There's rubbish all about the place, cables, left over building materials. The bathrooms are a disgrace, full of insects and cobwebs. For some reason they thought it a great idea to wedge the doors open - I mean it's not really camping if you can't use the toilet without a variety of moths, flies, beetles and spiders to share the experience with you. And those spiders were well fed. The staff were almost nowhere to be seen, the guy took my money for the campsite and laundry and said he'd be back in a few mins with detergent. Waited an hour then used my shampoo instead, never saw him again and needed to check that the water was drinkable. Some guy said he went fishing... It's not really well fenced off and opens out into the village and people drive through all the time. They said that they recently took it over and are making improvements but my feeling is that with all the unfinished building work and unkempt campsites, they're just super bloody lazy, it'll never happen and they'll go bust within a year. It has the redeeming feature of being in a relatively quite and pretty spot. It cost $25 which I think is $10 too much considering what it was like.
