Great scenery and amenities. Park operator is a bit rigid, but it is a family oriented campground. I highly recommend, as long as you aren't there to have too much fun.

The best and quietest campground we stayed at our complete Canada trip

Burton Historical Campground is located just 31km South of Nakusp on Highway 6. There are electrical and water hookups. The campsites are well sized for most campgrounds and provide adequate shade for most of the day. The site is well treed and grassy Includes volleyball net, horseshoes. Each site has a gravel pad and most sites provide picnic tables. There is a central shower and toilet facility, which is well maintained and clean. There are central water stations mainly for filling up with potable water (well water). Access to lake is just minutes away, with walking trail through the Burton Historical grounds (look it up - Burton bought the land and then subdivided it). There are some landowners neighboring the Campground that can be a little boisterous, however, it is tolerable The lake is clean and ready for a refreshing dip (cold - but nice when it's plus 30 Celsius with calm winds). The lake is controlled by BC hydro and levels can be quite high. When the levels are low, you can walk quite a way to the water. Overall, this site is a gem in the Central Kootenays. The camp hosts are great, and they make you feel welcome. You can tell the veteran Burton campers have a great respect for the site and their neighbors. Sites are generally quiet.
