Timberline Ranch

The best summer camp for kids who love having fun! Swimming, horseback riding, archery, rock climbing, singing songs and the best part for parents is they serve healthy lunches each day! If you live near maple ridge i highly recommend you try it out. They have overnight camps for older kids too. Well managed and the leaders were from what my son told me 'just really great people'.

great staff, food, and amazing activities. although the bunks should be re-designed, its hard to climb a ladder with one foot edit: definitely one of the best places i have seen. I don't know whats wrong with those people who only gave one star

One of the best camps hands down. my Daughter absolutely loved it and I was very impressed with how well run and organized it was.

I went to this camp in the 90s when I was a kid. Maybe it's changed but unless you are a born again Christian you will feel uncomfortable. They had payphones for the Councillors to use but would turn them off so you couldn't phone out - no phonecalls home. I don't mind Christian stuff but it was supposed to be non denominational At night the Councillor in my room told us stories about how nuns met the devil and if we said a prayer to ask to be born again we would be saved - scary stuff to a kid! They also had campfires so you could tell your story about finding god and you had to sit there to listen to this. They had a church in the basement where they would have chapel and that was intense as well. The horses were retired race horses and some of them still had a wild streak for people who were inexperienced it was scary as my horse tried to ram the other one infront of it. When I refused to ride the horses after that the instructor told me it was a crock - not very christian! The next day two of the horses got into a fight on hind legs while the kids were riding them. No thanks! One day we were eating lunch and there was a overly religious Councillor sitting across from me. I saw a dust tornado outside the window and I said Oh my god look at that! Suddenly he dropped his spoon right from his mouth into his bowl (I am not exaggerating) and just stared at me with a blank look and didn't move. I had to think really hard about why he was upset then I apologized. Which he didn't deserve at all. I'm sure there was more but the final thing I remember was being taken on a hike at the end of the week way up into the mountains behind maple ridge to a lake with a bottomless pit....how nice! Being young I was not prepared and I didn't bring any water it was really hard to make that long hike without a drink. At the top of the mountain they gave us each a small drink box. and then we had to hike all the way back. What is up with that? Honestly I would have made a review earlier but this was not an option in the 90s...Pros- I got to shoot a gun and a bow and arrow, they gave us credits to the canteen (although I probably paid for it indirectly with my camp fees) , I did get to work with a few nice horses - especially the old old ponies- they had a petting zoo..oh yes. and the man who did our photographs actually picked up a piece of horse poop off the ground and bit into it ,,,ate it. (no joke!) - said oh it's just hay...yes.. of course..lets be safe to say I never ever went to summer camp again!! UPDATE : why would I reach out to talk to people ? I just wanted to share my experience. Obviously there was no internet back then so I had no way of making a review. I wasn't pleased with how my experience went so I am going to be honest and tell how it was. Not everyone likes that much christian stuff for being non-denominational.

Wonderful place, great for kids who have never been to. Camp before, lots to do and fabulous food!
