I went there as a kid and truly learned so much about important social connections with other kids, leadership, rules of safety while in the wilderness, basic survival skills and how to respect our amazing land. A bit of spirituality, challenging & overcoming fears, & being proud of accomplishments is some of the many great things here. I couldnt imagine the organization allowing kids to wonder off exploring for themselves because of the dangers on their property. Glintz Lake, along with the rest of the island is no stranger to cougars and bears. About 30 years back when I had the chance to go to Camp T-🐥, I remember being afraid camp would be cancelled due to a kid being mauled by a cougar. Due to the heroic, quick thinking camp instructor that beat the cougar off saving the kid, camp resumed! So personally I would not have wanted to be left to roam the camp alone as another reviewer mentioned.... its a big place. As a parent of a young adult, I would have wanted and expected the same quality supervision and schedule as I had many years ago.

Great place for school groups. We were well looked after by a kind and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful setting. Huge forest property. Kayaking, rock climbing, archery, etc.

Mediocre experience not well tailored to weather and middle-school age group. I chaperoned a middle school class to Camp Thunderbird - the entire organization was suited to younger ages where the kids were subjected to an overly organized schedule without the possibility for self-discovery or free exploration. The camp didn't adjust the schedule to accommodate the rainy and cold weather, so in the end kids were forced to partake of the pre-arranged activities despite their protests (kayaking, archery, rock wall climbing, etc). I can see how this camp might be ideal in mid-summer for younger kids, but I wouldn't want to repeat our experience.
