Beautiful place for some light hiking and it stays open quite late too! The buildings and trails are well-maintained, and the information displays are really interesting. The visitor center and introductory video are basically the same as English Camp, so if you've seen that, no need to watch it again, but it's well worth visiting American Camp. We got to see a nesting pair of Bald Eagles too! Also, if hike out towards the south a bit, on a clear day you have a really beautiful view of the Olympic Range across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and of Mount Baker to the east.

Great place to take the kids. We have the National Park Passports. There are multiple spots to go to throughout the park. There is even a Bald Eagle nest that is viewable from the ranger station.

Nice small National Park. The visitor's center is clean and very informative. The rangers are not overwhelmed with people so they are very willing to chat and answer questions. Be sure to visit English Camp National Park at the other end of the island as well.

This is a great spot to immerse kids in some history as well as take a beautiful walk along the coast down to a lovely little beach - Grandmas Cove. The volunteers we met were great, really friendly and informative

Phenomenal views. Be sure to visit Granny's Cove. Living History volunteers fire blanks every hour.
