I did the great glacier trail and it was just beautiful. Walking in the near of the water and the trail is very tight, but that makes it so nice there. I can just recommend that to everyone. And 6,5 km (round-trip) are not too long

Watch the videos about how to handle a bear when you see them. Bring bear spray as well. You will likely encounter bears along the trail. Some people only spend a few hours drive through the park via going-to-the-sun Road. I'd recommend 3-4 days in the park to explore different areas, or even longer if you want to do some long hikes. Going-to-the-sun Road connects the east and west side of the park. It's the most famous, and busy road in the park. You can see many great views along the road, and expect to have difficult to find parking unless it's early or late of the day. If you drive through this road without stops, it's roughly 2 hours.

Glacier National Park was our first overnight stop on our week-long road trip and was well worth the stop. Wildlife a plenty including bears and marmots, the latter of which I had never seen before. We hiked the Hermit Trail, a steep, no non-sense hike up into the mountains, which provided outstanding views of surrounding peaks and abundant glaciers. We stayed at the Illecillewaet Campground which I also highly recommend.

We did a great little hike on the side of the road, I had my infant in her carrier and was able to navigate pretty well, it wasn't to steep, but it have us all a good stretch, and we saw some amazing waterfalls!
