We took our homeschool group to Baldy Mountain for a field trip. Climbing the tower and seeing the rangers cabin and stable was interesting. It was neat to be at the highest point in MB. We hiked the trail and it was lovely wide-open at most places but it is not stroller friendly since so many big trees were fallen across. We did a leave-no-trace scavenger hunt on the way. The children had so much fun! I'd go there again with people who enjoy hiking.

Amazing park with miles of untouched wilderness trails, breathtaking lakes, as well as incredible geography and history. The park is great for those who want to "rough it". Be warned there is dangerous wildlife in this area, including bears, wolves, and cats. One could spend years exploring the various area of this park.

If you are here for hiking, don't go to the Blue Lakes area. The Blue Lakes Trail is the trail from @$#. We must have climbed over or crawled under 50 or 60 or more downed trees blocking the path. We would have turned around early, but thought it would get better. But no. Some trees had been there so long there were well-worn paths around them or the tree trunk was smooth where people had been climbing over them for a long time. Other trees were newly fallen. Forget about protecting yourself from ticks. You are right there on and around the logs and branches. And the woods are so full of dead trees on the ground there was hardly a square meter not crossed by a downed tree trunk or branch. Worst I've ever seen. The trail should either be closed or a sign should be posted warning about the hazards.

Nice wilderness park. Beautiful scenery. Insects are very active in mid-June.
