This was a must stop for us as we drove the Cabot Trail and the northern most settlement on Cape Breton. We had heard the chowder was fantastic and the views were spectacular. Neither disappointed. No better place to enjoy chowder and a Schooner. This is a family run operation and everyone pitches in. We were there on opening day - had to wait for school to be out so the family staff was available. Not sure who created the chowder recipe but they sure have nailed it. There are other options as well; lobster roll to chicken fingers. Don't be daunted by the drive. If you survived the Trail to get this far then this road won't be much of a challenge. We didn't camp but the sites are well grassed with good washroom and shower facilities. The campers that were there seemed content (sigh).

The views were breathtaking (cant even describe in words) and the staff were very friendly! We got in late, so we stayed in one of the cabins which were very clean and well maintained, along with the restroom and shower area. In the morning we walked down to the beach, which what a perfect start to the day. The drive there is beautiful and desolate, so be sure to fill up your gas tank for the drive back!

I'm hesitant to leave this review because we want to keep this amazing place to ourselves.... But that would be cruelly selfish because of all of the places that my husband and i have had the pleasure of visiting, we couldn't possibly keep it from those of you who are willing to make the trek to visit. Let me put ot this way... We were so moved by not just the view, but the warmth and knowledge of our host, Justin, whose family has been lovingly tending this precious piece of land for 6 generations, we had no interest in stopping at another site. Why would we? After this, alternatives would be a heartbreaking disappointment. Many thanks to Justin and his family for their unending kindness in sharing their bliss with the rest of us. We only hope that we can make it back to the history and pure beauty of Justin's Meat Cove, knowing full well that the memories that, if we should never return, will live longingly and lovingly in our hearts and minds forever.

Claim to fame is that it's Nova Scotia's northern most settlement. Worth the drive for the adventure alone and to see the rugged beauty of Canada's Ocean Playground. Top it off with a delicious restaurant serving top notch seafood chowder and great fish and chips and the drive is definitely worth it.

We had an incredible stay! The sites are beautiful, there's lots of hiking nearby, hot showers, fire wood... everything you could want from a campground! The owner Justin was so incredibly kind and was extremely helpful. Definitely hoping to go back!
