2018 will be my 4th year on staff and I could not be happier. The new leadership team led by Barb Weeden is amazing and is taking the camp in the right direction. All campers love coming to Sparrow as you can tell by their smiles 24/7. I would recommend this place for any family with children as it will be a huge part of their childhood. Hope to see you guys here!!

Where to begin? Sparrow lake camp has been my summer escape for the past four years now, I started off in cabin 12, the Lit, and this previous summer I was a staff member on the site team. Waking up at sparrow every morning was extremely fulfilling, getting to see the smiles of campers and fellow staff members, then straight to cleaning the washrooms! My days were very productive, and well balanced between work, rest and fun. I enjoyed the company of my fellow co-workers who were very supportive, understanding and fun. there were many thresholds that I overcame, and I don't think I could have overcame them with the help of the directing, when ever an issue came up, Barb was there to to set things straight, she's a very wise, experienced understanding person, and I don't quite get the comment from the Previous staff member "Hanna". When I was first a camper at sparrow, I found the staff were very welcoming, and outgoing, the Activities and camp-wide games were exhilarating, I've made new friends, and it's what has driven me to return every year. Working on the site team gave me the chance to keep the camp Beautiful, safe and clean. The memories I've made at Sparrow will stay with me forever.

Must have been one of the most influential and times of growth in my life. Working at Sparrow allowed me to push my own personal goals as well as reach out to see the goals of other staff members. Working long days was sometimes hard, but it was always a reward in the end. Seeing the kids faces and laughter was always a plus for me. This year was my first year working, I do not know how it was run in the past but I truly wouldn't have changed anything at all. Each day I woke up excited to work with the people on the team and I was glad I had the people I did when there were issues that did arise. Barb is one of the most caring and influential people I had ever worked with. Her dedication to everything she does is mind blowing. From what I can gather, she always puts the kids first, makes sure everyone is taken care of, then she takes care of herself. Sparrow Lake Camp definitely has some growing to do in the coming years and I predict it will only get better and better. To all those who are returning, both staff and campers, I highly suggest that you keep an open mind and focus on the growth. You are the community that helps keep the place going, Sparrow Lake Camp needs the support from all. Lets continue to make this place magical.

I have spent one summer working at Sparrow Lake Camp. It was also my first traditional camp experience and overnight camp experience to boot! The entire staff team was incredibly positive and welcoming to all of the new staff, including the new Director! I spent my first summer really trying to observe the camp and understand how it works. The staff continually engaged with campers, made sure they stayed fed, and created a positive community. Even older campers connected with younger campers to help them accomplish their goals. Getting to wake up and spend a day with such a positive community every day of the summer was an amazing experience. This camp is traditional in nature in that it encourages staff and campers alike to connect with nature, try something new, and to not be afraid to get a little dirty. There was always someone to welcome you with a smile. The kids loved the activities that were offered and we had many tear-filled faces boarding the bus at the ends of sessions. Sparrow has some improvements to make, like all facilities, but it has the right person in the lead and a wonderful Board of Directors to help guide the path. I cannot wait to spend another summer there!

Had an amazing experience at sparrow and all the kids that I encountered loved it as well! The food was diverse, healthy and awesome, and the camp spirit was great! In regards to previous reviews about sparrow the staff member ‘Hanna’ does not exsist. The director is full of spunk, energy and always looking for new fun ideas for the kids. I have never met someone more dedicated to children and making as many connections with them as she can. Its clear that ‘Hanna’ is not a camp focused staff member as she complains about not being driven out of town for her own ‘off’ time, which does not have anything to do with how campers experience the magic of camp. Lastly, in regards to another review sun safety is important! All in all, the overarching review of 4.2 stars stands true to the spirit of the camp which any camper can see from the very first day. Camp is good, all the time! All the time, camp is good!
