Hidden and very friendly. Remember your toiletries and other decent camping equipment. The beach is nice and the rapids perfect for beginner fun at the bottom.

This is one of my fave places to go for the weekend. It's got so much going for it, perfect sets of rapids for begginners, nice river features for seasoned paddlers, friendly owners, friendly vibe with other campers. Lots of little families can enjoy the little beach while parents can take turns playing in the rapids. It is a pretty unique spot that is so valuable for the white water community. Busy but fun on weekends, pretty mellow during the week. No amenities other than pit toilets (really wish those were better vented composting toilets...). A few sites for groups of 10 or more, otherwise sites are not numbered and generally first come first served. Some in full sun and other in the shade of pine trees. many have partial river views. At time of review, rates are 10$ pp per night in shared tent, 15pp in single tent, 25$ in tent trailer.

Jessup is a champ for providing cheap camping and access to the river!

Jessup's is a great and convenient spot for the white water enthusiast. Located directly beside rapids on the Middle Madawaska River, it provides easy access to a fun little play spot for rookies learning to navigate through current the first time, or seasoned paddlers looking for some easy surfing. There are regularly cleaned outhouses at several locations on site, a potable water pump, and Mr. Jessup regularly cruises in his red Volkswagen to make sure all is going smoothly (and all fees are accounted for). It's pet friendly, so long as dogs are leashed, picked up after and well tempered. There are white water classes from the neighbouring Paddler Co-op that regularly do courses at the site, so the noise level during the day often consists of hooting and paddle banging. Loud music and fireworks are prohibited and Mr. Jessup sets his own fire bans when the weather turns dry, so visitors should be courteous and mindful of that. It isn't your typical campsite, the only people who stay are usually paddlers themselves, so casual campers may not enjoy how busy the waters can get.
