We bring our kayaks here for a paddle once or twice a year. On our most recent visit, we paddled west into the Baie Noire area for the first time. We encountered the largest freshwater turtle we have ever seen sunning himself on a small island. We enjoyed our picnic lunch on another small island. It is much more tranquil than the main channel of the Ottawa River, where the power boats frolic.

It was scenic. Being from Ontario it was nothing I hadn't seen - a tourist might very much appreciate it.

Great campground and nice park! Lots of natural habitat where to see many bird species, turtles, and plenty of other animals. We go every year , early spring !

We stayed overnight in yurt no 3 over Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed some of their 40 km of trails. It's about an hour east of Ottawa on the 148. The park is known locally but could be considered a best kept secret on the Ontario side. The trails are easy to navigate and it's all wide open. It's one of the best parks for walking meditation.
