We had a blast here. It was out first time hiking this state park and we had heard about the point where you can jump from a high cliff into the water. We are too old and chicken to try it, but we got to watch a couple others do it and that was pretty darn cool. We found the river to be breathtaking. We enjoyed reading about the rocks and how the landscape formed from the fast moving water. It was beautiful and a very pretty hike. Maybe next time we come back, we will sych ourselves up to jump from that cliff. 😉

This park has some of the best views of Lake Superior from many of the camp sites (lower and upper). The way the river cut sheer walls out of rock make this a unique stop with free parking on the highway there are interesting things walking less than 5 minutes each way. It may not seem dangerous to jump, climb, or swim here but that is the attitude that has got many people in big trouble here. There are large warning signs that even the 300 ft cliffs dont have precisely because of this.

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from my favorite northern MN resort. We always stop at the Temperance for a hike. You could be here for an hour or the whole day. So many gorges and crevasses to see. Beautiful waterfalls and rushing rapids as well. It is maintained very well. Well worth a stop!

Gorgeous! A very easy, short hike and we were rewarded with waterfalls and rushing water. The geological history of the North Shore is quite interesting, and it was fun to see this evidence ourselves. We found a peaceful little space right above the falls to have our lunch. A perfect day.

Beautiful and scenic views. Nice, carved out stairs for hiking. Be careful when it's raining or wet. Need more than flip flops. Climb to the top because the view is worth it at the gorge.
