We camped Friday and Saturday night at a tent site next to the kids playground. There was only 2 other campsites occupied at the time who also had kids and the children all enjoyed free play together. It was great! We prefer less-crowded areas and activities in general. We climbed the sand hill a couple of times, leave your sandals in a safe place, they tend to be buried with sand and we lost 2 pairs that weekend. The sand can be very hot mid-afternoon, you may end up with blisters on the bottom of your toes if you climb during hotter temperatures. Two people in our group had blisters. Consider climbing early morning hours to avoid the blisters. I recommend head lamps if you camp, nice washrooms (some flushing toilets and each with a sink soap and hand towels) for a campsite, but no lights inside, which also means less bugs at night which is good. Actually very little bugs, ants are a given with the amount of sand, but swallow birds and maybe bats? eating mosquitoes. We each got a couple bites but didn't feel the need for bug spray so I'm sure they could be easily deterred with bug repellent. Doug escorted us to our campsite, was friendly and helpful. The campground has some goats which were entertaining to watch in their fence. Behind the goat enclosure is an enclosure with a male and female elk. They are grand amazing looking animals. There were tent campsites right next to this enclosure and what a grand view that would be while you are waking up eating breakfast with an elk 10 feet away. Amazing animals. It is a family friendly campground with noise and curfew hours. Some seasonal sites with trailers in one section. Basketball court and net, beach volleyball court, just bring your ball. We would love the opportunity to return.

Quiet family location, friendly, helpful staff. A constant tractor pulling a trailer to help take your beach gear and family down to the shore (or back up to parking and the end of the day!). Some of the things to consider before coming here: 1) this is not a general beach/campground it is kid focused so alcohol is not permitted, loud music/foul language will get you flagged by the park staff. 2) There are limits on how far out you can swim, its not unreasonable for kids (their focus) but active adult swimmers will find it restrictive. 3) They are very active on flagging litterbugs. 4) The beach being pretty clean/low pollution so also has a lot of "nature" to deal with depending on the cycle of the season, so a pro tip is going to be to get some topical insect repellent for the sand flies.

Absolutely stunning beach very private lovely. Good workup going up and down the sand hill to get to the beach. Camping is okay but the beach is totally worth the drive.

I feel i should break my review up in 3 categories. The beach gets a 2-star it is very small. The campsite we had had no trees so also gets a 2 star. The Sandhill was awesome and tough to climb and gets a five-star.

Absolutely beautiful location. My wife's family has been coming here for decades and I was lucky enough to get to visit here once for their annual family reunion. Plenty of lots for campers, wide open spaces for the kids to play, day use areas are big and there's a little park for the kids to play at. The climb up the huge sand hill is definitely worth the view of Lake Erie. Cant wait to return this summer.
