A few years ago four of us that kayak our river at home, decided we needed a little adventure. We are still talking about the amazing time we had kayaking the apostle islands with Wilderness Inquiry. The staff took care of everything. We would never have had this experience without their equipment and expertise. I highly recommend this trip. I hope I can do it again with my grandchildren soon. Thanks Wilderness inquiry !!

Wilderness Inquiry’s Kayak Base Camp near Bayfield WI is wonderful! Several years ago I participated in the Women’s Trip. It was such a great experience that this summer I returned with my husband and two other couples to join the Base Camp/Kayak Tour. The highlight of the trip was paddling through the sea caves! It was such a unique experience. Each day was filled with adventure. We have also gone to the Boundary Waters with W. I. The trips are very inclusive in nature and we have enjoyed meeting new people. Individuals should not hesitate to sign up even if they are traveling alone. The camp itself is gorgeous and well maintained. Tents are on platforms and there are showers. The toilets are so high tech that you don’t even notice that they are not “flush”! Staff has always been supportive of the groups’ individual needs/wishes. Food is delicious and plentiful. In addition, by participating in a Wilderness Inquiry trip you are supporting an organization that also provides opportunities and scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to participate in these outdoor adventures.

The WI base camp and staff provide a comfortable and inviting campground experience where everyone is welcomed and respected, regardless of abilities. It's easy to enjoy the gorgeous coastline and quiet camp areas. I like that each group camp is completely private from other organized groups. It's also nice that they've put in a fireplace room for the not-to-sunny days that are so common on Superior. Everything from the bathrooms to the large warehouse are clean and organized. WI are true stewards of the land and if you're considering joining a program it is money well spent! They'll build you a fire and make "cowboy" coffee each morning. It's glamptaculous!

I was fortunate to participate in the Apostle Island kayak trip "Paddle, Pinot & Porter". Everything about the trip was exceptional. The WI staff are friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and engaging - and they can cook! My daughter and I felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed our paddling trips - taking several hundred photos because everything was so beautiful. I highly recommend this trip and can only imagine that the rest of the trips WI offers will be as enjoyable. We will see you again in 2018!

Wonderful trip for this kayak rookie. Very supportive and knowledgeable staff and enthusiastic. Very rainy the first day but then the weather cooperated. Very much enjoyed Beth Dooley and her cooking sensations. Loved going to the farm and shopping in bayfield!!!
