We went to visit my cousins in Wasago, and Bass lake was one of the campgrounds that was close to there house. We camped at hilltop campground which was close to the water tapes and washrooms/showers. It’s a nice campground, very clean. Privacy was above average! Which we liked. Only downfall is the huge roots from the trees sticking up out of the ground. ( yes I know it’s camping outside, something you have to deal with) but we’ve just never been to a campsite with that many huge roots sticking out. Which are tripping hazards at night and even during the day, ( we experienced twice on the weekend ) & the highway close to the campground which you can hear vehicles 24/7. Maybe to help with the tree roots is to put down more dirt around them?

It is a great park if you are wanting to get some camping in but don’t want to drive for hours. They have a beach, kayak and canoe rentals, playground and a park store. Facilities and sites are maintained. If you forget something Orillia is a very short drive. Our fire wood was dry which is rare with the parks and the ice was cheaper then the grocery store I got it from. I always hit this place once or twice a year for a quick camp weekend.

Great campground. Excellent Beach, nice sites with lots of shade (hilltop campground). Some traffic noise and headlights from road directly behind our site. Wardens and office staff all very friendly. Beach is shallow (maybe 3 feet at marker line) and extends a significant distance into the lake. Comfort station needs some TLC, getting a little run down.

Beach/ Lake: Clean, not a lot of seaweed, sandy beach, can walk pretty far out. A few jet skis, and lots of canoes/ kayaks Camping: decent sites, lots of trees/ cover, well maintained garbage area, and bathrooms are kept nice too! Security: for the past 3 years we have gone, there have been park rangers having to deal with issues form other campers, and they from what we have viewed have always been professional and kind. They would come over and kindly ask us to be quiet if it was getting to late etc. They definitely help with making us feel safe and protected. Over all we have gone back for 4 years in a row and we are thinking about coming back this year. We find the location is great as it is not too far form the 400 series highways so out whole extended family is able to access the campground easily!

I go here every year and only go somewhere else to try new places. It's my comfortable default place. No complaints
