Don't let the bad reviews turn you away! The walking trails are awesome, the water is incredibly clear, there are some nice beavers to keep you company, and the scenery is spectacular! We didn't catch any trout but maybe you'll have better luck. Yes there are bugs and yes you may have to step over a log or two. What the frig were you expecting?

Absolutely amazing hiking, trail is easy to follow and fairly well maintained but still challenging, and goes from one fantastic view to another, and another, and another. Only 5km, but easily some of the best hiking in the province

I’ve been camping here twice. Great location for camping, but you have no running water, no power, just an outhouse (which I wouldn’t suggest.) as long as you are prepared to rough it, you’ll have a great time. Word to the wise: bring bug spray/netting. At certain times of year the flies are bard, and the mosquitoes are plentiful once night rolls around. There are a few spots to set up away from the main camp area, and if you bring a canoe you can reach the less crowded area without a 1.5k hike. Also, ignore the idiot who found the hornet nest. If you aren’t aware of the dangers, don’t go camping at a hike in site.

We didn’t camp here but it’s only about 25 minute drive from the Narrow Hills Provincial Park Campsite. Well worth the excursion. We hiked the paths during late August and it’s an absolute must see. Absolutely beautiful scenery and incredible beautiful during the fall season.

My family and I went to gem lakes for a fun hike and let me tell you....there was 10 of us. 8 of which were stung by hornets who had a nest right on the path . After returning from the stingfest only to find that we had a parkpass violation for not buying a pass to the narrow hills provincial park. When i approached the park ranger as to why we are being ticketed if there isnt no signs at any point along the road or in the parking area she told me that someone has to pay the hornets to sting you... Oh yes and also my mother got stuck trying to crawl under one the 15 fallen trees along the path . So great job park staff. The province is paying a staff member to ticket people who park at gem lakes but they will not maintain the hiking trails which is what attracts all the people. Whoever is managing this park should reconsider there intentions.
