The pool and leisure facilities were closed for renovation which was a bit disappointing. The on-site restaurant had a great breakfast and dinner time menu and service was excellent. It's only a short walk to the centre of town and there's a tram stop right outside which made it easy to get around. Easily accessible for disabled persons. Only downside was the cleanliness - not bad but could've been improved.

usually enjoy staying at the Sandman hotel chain as they provide a hot continental breakfast. Also like the opportunity to earn bonus points during their promotions to help me earn free nights faster. However, this time the hot breakfast was not available, the juice was watered down & no earl grey tea. Like

Rented three rooms for two nights for July 1. The hotel is renovating so one room was newly renovated and two rooms were not. One of the unrenovated rooms had a broken air conditioner so the hotel gave us a fan to move the hot air around. The heater would not shut off and was stuck at 24 Celsius. The second room had construction above it sounding like drills. They did go to stop it in the evening when we complained. They did upgrade us for night two to a better room. The elevator is not working properly and had trouble reading the cards. I almost got trapped in the elevator. We rented this hotel partly for the swimming pool only to find out it is under renovations. Their website said nothing about the pool being closed. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the service and the state of the hotel. The front desk was helpful so not totally bad.

Front desk staff are friendly a d helpful. Rooms are clean. Housekeeping staff are friendly. Parking is difficult if you have a truck (specifically a lifted truck). Great location if you are attending the Stampede.

I've stayed at quite a few Sandmans and to me, this is one of the better ones. It's a pretty good location (right next to the C Train on the west end of downtown), a 10-15 minute walk to the "hub" of downtown (Stephens Ave/the CORE) and about 10-15 minutes to Prince's Island and the Peace Bridge as well. However, as a single woman, I didn't feel comfortable walking alone nearby after dark. The McDonald's/Circle K across the street doesn't have a good reputation and it's known as one of the rougher parts of Calgary. The rooms are a decent size and seem fairly new and clean. Beds are comfy, linens and towels are good quality. Some noise (I was on the 11th floor) but that's to be expected downtown.
