I felt like I had just entered an English cottage. It was very clean and comfortable with spacious rooms. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly while hotel is in a nice location right off the highway and close to Butchart Gardens. The only downside was that there are no laundry facilities on site and you have to go to the laundromat in the gas station next door. Other than that a great stay.

Our room faced the gas station and McDonald's. Their lights were right in my eyes when I laid down. The curtains were not wide enough and about 1/4 inch too short. The sun also came in about 5:15 am. Breakfast was good, but bar was not kept well supplied. Out of eggs for about 15 minutes. The waffle maker timer didn't always work, gave someone trouble every morning.

Tudor style with attached pub. Friendly staff and rooms were clean. A little dated, but comfortable. Pub grub was good, but service a little slow. Roasted baron de beef was a hit with wife and cousin. Morning breakfast in the library was tasty and filling before heading to ferry. Unfortunately, we missed the resident Bassett who is in poor health.

This is an older hotel with a terrible breakfast, a shower with very little water pressure, and nothing really going for it, but it's just right for what you should be expecting here. The price is right - we paid less here than anywhere else during our week on the island, and we stayed here the night before and night after Canada Day. The room was clean. There might be a dog you at least get a glimpse of. The location is good near Sidney, Butchart Gardens, and even Victoria. It serves its purpose if you want to stay in the area.
