I am a 18 year old who loves travelling and adventure. This hotel fit perfectly with it's original 1912 furniture and appliances. The original elevator from 1912 was fun and cool to use, the room i got for a very affordable $113 for one person with LOTS of room and a king size bed was ore than enough for my single night. I recommend this place for anyone who loves old, vintage, antique, and different things. Definitely a life changing experience.

Do not give in to the low cost of this place. It is a very poor experience, even for those who appreciate its aesthetics and history. The receptionist is the only one who will make you feel at home there. You won't get it from the owner. CONS: - The units we stayed in had mouse traps everywhere and we saw a mouse scurry across the floor when we were staying there. - The owner is impossible to deal with when you have an issue or dispute about the place. She will accept no fault of her own or the poor condition of the building and appliances. It's YOUR fault if something breaks and you will pay for it. - The WiFi is unusable if you're (presumably) more than a floor above ground floor, because ours on the 4th story wouldn't load most webpages. - The TV has maybe 10 channels of mostly 24-hour news and that's it. The cable box was very buggy and slow as well and wouldn't load the guide much of the time. PROS: - You can get liquor right across the street to help you sleep through the once-every-five-minute sky train pulling in to the stop about 30 metres away.

If you stay here you must be prepared to accept some of the quirks of a hundred plus year-old building. This is also it's charm. Staying in this place was magic for me. Loved it.

"People either love it or hate it", the caretaker told us after showing us the room "upon request of the management" before checking in. We loved it, but it's definitely not for everyone. Not much has been done to the building after it was built in 1912, but the little "classic flats for the traveler" are clean, nicely furnished and feel very homey. Almost felt like it's part of the set to an Agatha Christie movie. We only stayed one night, but for longer stays they have discounted rates. Very affordable, regardless. There is a Safeway across the street in case you want to prepare your own meal in the apartment kitchen.

Loved this hotel! Stuart (sp?) was the best hotel manager. We loved the hotel. Yes, it was old and you could smell a vintage scent but it was clean! The price was amazing for 700sq ft of personal space. And with a Safeway within a 5 min walking distance to make your own meals, it was perfect. Plus the sky rail right there for travel.
