TLDR: Unprofessional and rude service. I would not recommend this motel, unless you like to do your own housekeeping and don't mind rude service.
The Holiday Beach Resort... I am not quite sure where to start. It is my understanding that there are new owners, and I am not sure they are cut out to run any business that includes customer service.
Our late check in was accommodated, which was helpful. However, upon check in, the woman at the front complained to us about other guests at the hotel, who happened to be my relatives. We were then told that, upon check out, we were to clean and put away the dishes in our unit and take out our own garbage and recycling. We were told that there was no housekeeping, and that our beds would not be made and our room would not be cleaned during our stay (there was a sign for new maids, so maybe one day you won't have to do your own housekeeping). We got the key to our room, and upon opening the door, we noticed that other people's belongings were all over the room. We went back downstairs and the woman at the front desk had given us the wrong key (after talking to other relatives who were staying at the hotel it was discovered that this had happened to other families that same day).
THE ROOM: We arrived in our room, which was mediocre, but appeared clean. Upon having a shower, it was noted that the shower head was extremely low, and the water pressure was terrible. We climbed into bed, and I noticed that there was a large hole in the mattress near the bottom of the bed (the mattress had collapsed). When we later discussed this with the front desk, we were told that she noticed there was a hole in the mattress, and a new mattress had been ordered. She then informed us that the mattress had arrived on Friday (the day we checked in), but that, since we were already in the room, they decided to wait until we left to replace it. I should note that we arrived at approximately 6:30pm on Friday night, and I am not too sure who delivers a mattress later than that.
THE SERVICE: Because our party had rented out 90% of the hotel (the party consisted of families with young children and older couples), we had a bbq out back. About five of us were sitting around the pool, watching the kids swim and having a beer. The man came out and rudely informed us that there was no glass around the pool. No one had glass, and informed him of this. He then stated that there was no alcohol allowed around the pool and abruptly told us that we needed to leave the pool area. I understand if this is a rule, but being so rude, right off the bat was unnecessary. The next day, my sister was up early with her children. She said hello to the same man, who then launched into a rant about the mess that we left after the BBQ. Myself and my boyfriend had cleaned up and wiped down at least one of the two picnic tables the night of, and another cousin informed that he had gotten up around 6:00am and had checked the area and noted no mess. Perhaps they were up before 6:00am cleaning, but seeing how the motel is run, this is unlikely.
POSITIVES: The location was good, especially as we had a wedding in Okanagan Falls that weekend. For the price (about $200/night), however, I would have rather stayed anywhere else.
