Efficient check in. Room was decent. The fitness centre is the worse I've ever been in. I travel for work so I was surprised when the wasn't even water provided. Concierge suggested I buy the water! There was also no air condition so I was running with the sun glaring on me. Felt like running in a sauna. No blinds to even reduce the light coming in. Machines where also old and outdated.

The hotel is quite dated compared to its competitors. However, the room does seem clean. The hot water takes some time to work and I noticed that the door frame was broken as there was a crack big enough to see outside. As for the staff, there is room for improvement. While they are polite and friendly, they do not follow through with their promises. For example, prior to boarding the train here, a family member negotiated with the staff and we were supposed to get charged for 2 nights rather than 3 given that it did not make sense to charge for a day that we were not going to be here until the next day due to our train being delayed 4 hours. Upon arriving at the hotel, the staff member charged us for 3 nights and when I confronted them about the previous negotiated price, they refused to charge for only 2 nights. I told the staff member that my family member spoke to someone earlier that day and that my family member received an email stating that I would only be charged for 2 nights. The staff member refused to believe this and apologized. If you are considering staying here, I would explore other options before settling with this.

The rooms were okay. Hotel is pretty dated. No AC in the room I was staying in.

The Highliner Plaza Hotel lobby was clean and spacious. The desk staff were friendly and I was instantly greeted and asked if they could assist me with anything. I was only at the establishment to meet up with some people on this visit. I will however be going back to try out their restaurant as the food looked delicious.

It was hard to find a place to park our car. The best thing about our stay was the sweet view we had of the harbour from our room on the 8th floor.
