This hotel, and restaurant, used to be amazing. I had my wedding reception there back in the 90s when it was Esther's Inn; and I have booked many people into the hotel when they have come to town to visit. For many years I went there for their Sunday buffets - which used to be amazing. Then I had a bad experience there three years ago and didn't go back. This morning I met a friend there for breakfast. I was hoping that under the new ownership the hotel had returned to it's former high quality. My hopes were in vain. The restaurant has gone seriously downhill - even worse than it was when I was last there three years ago. I ordered a very simple meal - Eggs Benedict and Earl Grey Tea. The only part of the meal that was edible were the eggs. The ham was the thinnest piece of sandwich meat I've ever seen and I couldn't even taste it. The hash browns were old, cold and burnt to a crisp. The staff was unable to find honey for my tea, and by the time they found it, the tea was cold. I did complain, and got a 10% discount on the food only. So two eggs - $9. Cold tea, of which I had two, maybe three, sips - $3.25. I won’t be wasting my money there again. Nor will I ever again recommend the place for out of town visitors. In fact, I will actively advise people against it.

Interesting...yes, that's the word. Only stayed one night here. Obviously old property in need of renovation. Room was okay except that there is no elevator and lugging 125 pounds of motorcycle luggage up and down stairs was no fun. Breakfast was great (real eggs and great coffee). Oh, the "interesting" part...that would be the tropical rainforest tiki interior courtyards. See to believe. Not bad for a short stay.

Great location. Nice pet friendly rooms with pillow /cushion for fido. Also food and water dishes for pets. Nice enclosed tropical courtyard with pool and a hot tub...however both times hotub covered...so don't know if it is working. Rooms are nice except for the toilet /bathtub room...the room is tight..you have to squeeze beside the toilet or stand in bathtub to shut the door for privacy. Complimentary breakfast includes coffee, apple or orange juice, eggs, sausages...toast, muffins, cereal with milk, small selection of yogurt and mixed fruit in punch bowl and 2 waffle makers. ..get there early before the batter and strawberries run out. Nice atmosphere, UNTIL noisy bus groups show up and disturb the peace well after 10 pm. Doesn't seem to matter to hotel staff if late comers wake everyone else up in the hotel. Both times I've stayed tour buses showed up ...does not matter the age group all disturbing the peace and quiet (Elderly group and a family group with kids separate occasions). The main reason people stay in hotels is to get sleep. We didn't get much either time. Would be a 5 star rating if staff and clients kept it quiet for those who have been traveling since dawn and are still continuing on the next morning.

Everything was updated in the rooms. Everything was great during our stay. Since the takeover ...it has improved 100%

Stayed two nights here. Same room, same review. It was affordable and I got what I paid for... except the tiny bathroom that was made for ants. The builders forgot to scale it up, so it's still at 1/20th its intended size. I love models too but obviously that Camaro wasn't going to fit in my room, it couldn't be built to scale! That's just silly talk. But this is a bathroom... for people! That's all I can come up with that would cause this sort of a design flaw in a hotel. The bathroom so small, he reviewed it twice! I did hear that this place was roaring in the 80s when it was called Esters. People must have been smaller in the 80s? Maybe the bathroom door opened out back then like a sane person would expect.
