Yup.. I'm with the others this place is okay but the guy who owns it is a different story only recommend if you don't really care where u stay but bring ur own lock and keep your door locked when sleeping the guy who owns it is an odd ball.

I have stayed at the Hostel.... a few years ago and found it to be very homey even if it is such a large facility. I me several nice people there and used it as my base while visiting in the area. They had everything you could imagine, nice rooms, hot showers, a fully stocked kitchen, even an herb garden for your cooking. It was quiet and I slept like a baby. The blackout drapes kept things dark so I could sleep well into the day after a late night. I was impressed. I plan on returning this summer for about two weeks.

(The old manager is gone, Greg was a nasty guy.) The actual owner was here .... it was an amazing change since my last visit. He is quite approachable and will help you with everything. I stayed here for a few weeks this Spring (and last summer). The Hostel area is under-going a further upgrade and is nearly done. I got a great room that was just redone top to bottom (the best was all rooms are private rooms, quite unusual for a hostel). This rest of the building is also under facelift (new flooring and doors). I had a chance to do some demolition work, so that helped out in my extended stay. The place was nearly fully booked and I was lucky to get a room. Several Construction workers have found the place. Very quiet sleep, I had a great stay, the new kitchen and lounge was a bonus. I found out I was pretty good at playing pool. I need to come back in the summer ...... I want to check out: River Tubing; the summer festivals; Tall ships coming this summer; a Pow Wow would be great; and dancing to live free music at Ritchie Warf & check out the Orange-Pineapple Ice Cream there. I may have check out the Bass fishing on the famous Miramichi River, but I like fish (I do not fish, .........but when in Rome). I do not mind giving this place a plug since the owner was so great.
