In between a B&B (without the latter B) and a small hotel with a great location in downtown St. John's, our stay at Monroe House was comfortable. The proprietors, Eric and Bonnie, were friendly without being overbearing. Each room has its unique style and all are spotlessly clean with a Keurig and Fridge in each one. The house's amenities from its kitchen and common areas are available for use by guests and parking and wifi are included. Why stay at the nearby Sheraton if you can get charm, character, and a community feel in this house. Ample breakfast places within walking distance.

As the former home of a premiere of Newfoundland it did not disappoint. It has gently winding staircases, many beautiful works of art, we'll situated common areas for relaxing, and a spacious dinning room. The kitchen is available for use and we'll stocked with all the conveniences of home. We visited near the end of the off season and the facility was quiet and peaceful. The staff were pleasant, available as needed and discreet. There is some parking available to the side and in front of the facility. Monroe House is close to the down town area within walking distance to Quidi Vidi, Signal Hill, Bannerman park, restraunts, a coffee shop, and more. We really enjoyed our visit and would like to come again.
