Definitely NOT the Ritz but the price seemed OK for a hotel in downtown Guelph on graduation day at UofGuelph. The address was given as 95 MacDonnell but actually it is across from the rail station on the street behind the building. Every train rings its bell passing through. The rudest of desk clerks ever encountered insisted that our reservations didn't exist. After 10 minutes of arguing suddenly they did exist after all. Once that was established then there was the surprise of a $200 (!!!) deposit for any "damages" to the room. Take it or leave it the dragon lady said. Other than peeling paint and wallpaper, the room itself was not too bad but well past the recomended date for renovations. No hot water in the morning for a shower. Did I mention the bed bugs? At age 76 my first experience with them. Blood on the sheets in the morning. Angry red welts on my hand, and one of the critters spotted under a pillow. Same rude response to my report of their presence. Other than these quibbles, our room awaits future guests...... we'll give it a 1 out of a number way higher than 5 or 10.

This was the most disgusting place. We refused to stay there and demanded a refund. There was stains on the carpet. Blood and semen stains on the wallpaper in the room. Mould everywhere especially the bathroom. Rust and mildew on all the bathroom drains. Wallpaper was stapled to the walls. Most of the people staying there looked like they lived there. There was no parking as advertised and they had no room keys. Front desk attendant had to let you in. Was rated as a 7 out of 10. Should be a 1. Beware!

Pretty much what we expected. Very dated decor funky smells. However our room seemed to be relatively clean. And for the price it wasn't terrible.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I picked the hotel due to its 7/10 star rating.. well it should have been a .7/10!! The floors were GREASY and STAINED!! I slept fully clothed and refused to even take socks off!!! GROSS!! Our FIRST room was good sized but we went to the washroom when we got there and flushed the toilet and it FLOODED EVERYWHERE. Front desk was RUDE and NOT HELPFUL! After complaining and getting told we could use “the washroom in the lobby for the night” we FINALLY got a new room, which was NO BETTER. There was toilet paper that was so old STUCK TO THE TOULET BOWL!! It was SLIMY! And it wouldn’t come off!! I WILL NEVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE ELSE!

We were in Guelph last weekend to see a band and decided it would be best to stay overnight. You know, to avoid that whole drinking and driving thing everybody is always talking about? Anyway, we booked our room online and that was straight forward. This hotel is within walking distance of The Guelph Concert Theatre so that's pretty handy! There were 4 of us so we booked a room with 2 queen size beds and it was really affordable! We came from Hamilton and didn't really know our way around Guelph so we used Google Maps for the directions to the address listed on their website. When we arrived, there was a sign taped to the front door that said patrons had to use the back door to get in.. not a big deal but maybe a heads up on their site would be good because we had to throw all our stuff back in the car and drive all the way down the street and around the block to the back of the hotel. The lobby was clean and tidy. The lady at the front desk was polite and friendly and had us checked in and ready to go in just a few minutes. We rode up to our floor in a neat old Otis elevator. Our room was quite large considering how little we paid... there was a cosy sitting room with a couch, a large closet, a beer fridge and a tv on one end and of course the sleeping area and a desk on the other. There was also a full bathroom. Not too shabby! The room was very clean as well so no complaints there... we were quite happy with everything. We began getting ready for the show, listening to music and hoisting a few beers, nothing too crazy.. when the phone rang. And there it was, the only thing we found that was wrong with our room... paper thin walls, lol. So great price, friendly staff, spacious clean rooms, convenient location and thin walls... not bad. Not bad at all!
